I am the last person to defend SE, but to be fair, they explained at fanfest that their team is VERY small. One dev alone makes all the monsters in the open world..just one! So it is not that they are lazy, it is that their team is very small![]()
For a team that can push out updates at least every 2 or 3 months, they don't seem that small.

That's not an excuse for lazy.
Most, if not all F2P companies, also have a small as hell development team, yet they still make certain to add in features and even change models when they have the time and resources and demand is large enough. This demand has been happening since Open Beta 2 years ago, this also not mentioning that this is a P2P company that recently opened a cash shop ON TOP of the $13-$15 a month payment options.
I believe they have an extra team specifically for the cash shop and ONE PERSON can devote themselves to changing JUST the PC models(They all come from the same base model) and changing the pants to fit it(as I seen and heard plenty the shirts are still built for 1.0 backsides).
This problem won't suddenly be stopped because reasons. They screwed up massively thinking no one actually, you know, WANTS their characters that they will spend hundreds if not thousands of hours on looking exactly how they want them to. If I want a man or a woman with a flat ass, I wouldn't be here but I am, it's extremely unhealthy and definitely not something ANYONE should act like it's suddenly ok as you are just enabling this behavior.
If this actually is true... doesn't this scare anyone else? Y'know in a "HIRE SOME MORE PEOPLE FOR SUCH A HUGE GAME ALREADY" kind of way? Just think... SE ... FINAL FANTASY ... some TWO AND A HALF MILLION players, supposedly ... small team to the point of one person taking care of such entirely big things as open world monsters ... yeah, mind = blown. @.@ (I dunno how this doesn't scare anyone at SE, to be honest.)
how about using our subscription fees to fund the game we're subscribed for? and stop spending our money for some boyband road trip game.
Their team is larger than XI's yet the team on XI manages to push out even unique style content on their monthly update cycles. It is laziness in the long run in the guise of "efficiency", since 1.0, being "oh so flawed" managed to do more than the far superior ARR.
It's also not even PS3 limitations, since PSO2 on the Vita (note: not remote play, actual Vita version) can do more than ARR. So while the team is small..they've done amazing things with XI with an even smaller team, which is literally down to a handful of people lol.
People wanna see this?![]()
Well, to be honest, I do believe Square Enix team is limited and they are not so many, and it is good because you can have a better team synchro and avoid other troubles but.... In my opinion, with the great game they have and all the amount of people playing it.... It is a need to hire more people, either for making some content more fast, or for focusing in what they want while the new hired people do other kind of things (Such as graphical enhances this thread speaks about).
You can't really pretend to manage a MMORPG like this being just a few working on it, that will always makes troubles and you work with a lot of stress, I know it well.
But I guess that the trouble of this industry is... You can't just hire anyone around, you'll always need to trust a little in the persons you get for it, you know, it's bad when all the good things you worked for are being taken and used in other games just because someone who worked with you had access to that too.
