Eorzea's Next Top Model - Cycle 3 Round 5

Welcome back, all you model-lovin' scrags! Got a short word from your beloved Cap'n this week as we've not got a model interview due t'a variety of circumstances which have absolutely nothin' whatsoever t'do with any rumours y'might have heard 'bout me gettin' drunk an' stealin' an airship. None whatsoever.

Sadly we had t'say goodbye to Overlord Rikkustrife last week. An' as a reminder, we lost Sienna from th' lad's contest by default.

Anyways! As is evidently a trend in this cycle, we've had yet -another- one o' the lads decide th'contest was just too much for 'em. This week, Ronin vanished int' thin air. So once again, default elimination for them!

ENTM Cycle 3 Round 5

Here's what th'round description this time was...

Beastman Tribe Ambassador - Go try and look like you really fit in with your favourite beast tribe. Must be taken in the area where said Beast Tribe is based.

That means it has to be taken in the area with one of the friendly beast tribes. Anywhere in that area is fine, including the stronghold (Natalan does not count since it's in a different area than the Nine's camp). At least one NPC must be in the shot, they do not have to be friendly.

Same as last round, choose three from the men's contest and three from the women's contest, then post your choice! You've got t'vote on both sides t'count remember, even though there's no elimination from th'lads this week.

1. Xev Bellwyn: Very nice expression, posing, and angles. I also love how close up we are to both of you, really places us into the moment. My only critique is that I wouldn't have minded a smige more lighting, but that is nitpicking.
2. Kaiyoko Star: Great angle, pose, and lighting. You got a 7-foot birdman behind you but you are the focus of this picture! My only advice is that i wish you had a bit more of a fiercer expression.
3. Eirwen Mackenzie: Great lighting, angles, and composition. I only wish that you had a bit more expression on your face.

Male
1. Epsil Ion: Once again, great lighting, posing, expression, the works! However, to nitpick, I wish the Amalj'aa stood out a little more.
2. Adam Fylrmyn: I like the humor of this picture. Your expression, posing, and setting are nice, although your lighting might be a wee bit too intense.
3. Aiden Weaver: Nice angles, composition, and lighting. My only critique is that I wish you were interacted with the kobold some more.

I also thought that the breakdown was particularly funny this time around.

Looks like the Sylphs are the most popular beast tribe! I think they’re feeding everyone some of Smurfette’s magic mushrooms…

Women’s Side:
Top 3:
1) Xev - This was particularly difficult to judge, since you weren’t just being compared to everyone else - but you were being compared to three other Sylph-clan ladies! It was so incredibly hard choosing between the four of you, but your shocked expression and creative use of that crown won you the day for me! I’d really like to know what book you’re reading… Please tell me it has something to do with a romance between a strapping young cabbage, off to rescue a lovely eggplant!*
*(Yes, euphemisms. Terrible ones. I don’t care, I want to read your book.)
2) Rhaya - And back into the Rhaya we love! <3 The composition here is gorgeous. The pink in the corals and the vivid light just over your shoulder brings the lightness such a blue/purple heavy image needs! It’s overall well balanced and I LOVE the wet effect you got there! It looks like those Sahagin are all too happy to accept you into the hatchery! Also, I am fairly sure that these two Sahagin have been arguing all day over the quality and selection of those weapons behind you. I have a feeling that the red one (whom I will refer to as Bob) is very happy that you’re now here to refocus Frank’s ire! I have a feeling that Frank is a very finicky fishman, very determined to have only the most shhhpecial shhhpear.
3) Iris - I have to admit to a bit of bias here. Kobolds are my personal favorite… and you so adorably reaching for those Bombs struck an arrow straight into my heart! Maybe he can be convinced to teach you how to make them!

Men’s Side:
1) Fate - You’ve been fully accepted by the Sylphs, hooray! That’s definitely a reason to go find their secret stash of Reborn Red and drink to your heart’s content!
2) Adam - Yay! I love the Touched Sylphs and their vivid violet hues! The only thing I would have liked more in this picture was if you’d gotten the long skirt, so we’d know you were fully integrated into their fold! This was a very nicely balanced shot and I loved it!
3) Flare - This image was so deceptively simple. That was when I started noticing all the thought put into it. This Amalj’aa smith is teaching you the wonderful ways of metallurgy! While perplexed, you seem intent to learn, insisting on being close, so that each spark may lend its knowledge to you! (I really hope you can borrow some burn cream.)

I love what every one of you did this week! They were so creative and wonderful! You made me laugh, you treated my eyes to beautiful effects, and you made me yearn for some Beastman Dailies!

Xev Bellwyn - That expression on your face! The hat really works well with the outfit!

4. Jinx Fireboot: I had a hard time deciding between your picture and Aiden's. You to have a nice composition, nice angles, and nice lighting, but I also wish their was more interaction with the Amalj'aa. Had to give it to Aiden in the end because his had a little more setting. >A>()
5. Marik Destiel: Nice lighting, angles, and setting. However, seeing as you are interacting with that hound, it should be the shot more. For all we know, you're interacting with a floating, dog head. D:
6. Flare Anderfel: I like the play on size and depth here, you're a tiny Lala amongst giant, Amalj'aa. However, I wish you were a little more animated in this shot.
7. Fate Lhas: I like your setting and that you are mimicking your beast-tribe friend. However, I think you're light is making you too bright, you stick out a bit too much.

Female
4. Iris Dawnshade: Nice angles, expression, and posing. A very cute picture over-all. Critique-wise, I wish you weren't so on top of the kobold. Also, I think the light is washing you out.
5. Rhaya Relanah: Girl, you're glistening! I think you look the best out of all this round's shots. However, the shot as a whole needs a little more interest.
6. Adeline Urusa: Nice lighting, posing, and placement of the extras. However, I wish you were turned to the right more, so we can see more of your body.
7. Lowena Fae: The play with scenery and lighting are great and I love how close we are to both you and your sylph friend. Your pose and the placement of you and the extra are also nice. However, you look extremely washed out. Are you wearing Mr. Face make up? Being avant-garde isn't bad but with how white the lighting from Holy is, it's washing you out. You're face helps tell the story of the shot.
8. Sakuraya Kai: This isn't a bad shot. Your lighting and setting are nice. However, the others were just a little more interesting. >A>()

Women

Adeline Urusa - The centering of the picture gives off a feeling that not only are you the ambassador, but you are a friend to the Sahagin. They are sea-dwelling people, and would rather have someone who is a salty sea-dog, who doesn't mind helping the tribe out with tasks. The choice of a spear also fits with the naval/sea-faring motif. Also it could be viewed that the Sahagin are teaching you an outsider their secretive spear technique. There is a lot that can come from this picture, and I would like to know the story connected to this image. You focused on the entire aspect creating a character that would fit in with the Sahagin, and that alone shows the effort that was placed in the project.

Iris Dawnshade - There is a charming theme to this image that makes it stand out. The Kobolds are often viewed a very secretive, and shy when it comes to accepting outsiders. It looks like you not only are teaching them how to cope with the ever evolving world around them but show them that it's better to look up at the sky then clutching the ground as most Kobolds do in Eorzea. The only grip is that the bombs around you seem to distract a little, but other than that it looks like a refreshing piece that you went with something a little out of the box.

It was hard to pick a third party due to the others selecting a very common, and not-as awe inspiring beast tribe to represent. The Sylphs seem like a very "safe" option, but I came to the conclusion that my third choice would be....

Kaiyoko Star - The pose itself is powerful as if when directing the others in order to help build the airship that the Ixali people wish to construct. The larger chief directs his people while you as the ambassador relay the information to the others that wish to help out in the preparations. The angle is slightly off however when it comes to the direction you are facing, but you both invoke the same powerful imagery when it comes to a supervision on a construction yard.

Men

Marik Destiel - The positioning of the image, and the placement of the Ixali around you tells us a story. You're not simply snapping a photo by various NPCS, and passing it off as if you're an ambassador. You seem to be sitting with the tribesmen sharing tales of a world that is foreign to them, and for you they return the favor with tales of their own.

Aiden Weaver - I find something alluring about this probably due to how puzzled not only you are but the Kobold. It seems that you could have devised some ingenious way to smelt metals only for the outcome to be drastically different from what was intended.

Flare Anderfel - I do like how this image also tells a story. You are an outside to the Amalj'aa, but as an ambassador you've immersed yourself in their culture learning of their ways of mastering steel. You appear to be in deep though in examining the craftsmen technique on the anvil, as if you are both the learner and teacher.

Xev: Expression 10/10
Good job on this, I love everything about it!
Adeline: This is simply flawless imo, my favorite this round. Action in motion, you fit right in the center and it tells a story.
Eirwen: That green theme sync. Well done!


Iris: You are not the first thing that catches my attention, it's too bright as well.
Kaiyoko: I like the light contrast here, the sync'd pose and the nails are awesome but the others stood out more for me.
Lowena: That's a dreamy shot, I like the Odin weather effect <3 The one thing I did not like is how bright you are in this monotone theme, it's like the sylph is getting all the attention.
Rhaya: Colors are much wow in this shot, however there is no sync between you and all of the beastmen. You are arguing with one of them and other one is at peace, felt weird there, were you trying to defend something?
Sakuraya: Lovely background, you look too peaceful and I think that's your weakness.. no expression? Good job on the location though!
