    As far as I'm concerned, you're the one stubbornly cherry picking quotes to try and continue this. Here's what you should focus on;

Saying "I look at it as a source of Company Seals" is either a moot point, or further adding to my point.
    Either that or actually dispute that Crafters aren't just Glamour peddlers, because going "They're useful for Crafters/Desynth so I can make more Glamour gear" really just QEDs my "They're only useful for Glamour".

    This is why I like this suggestion.

    You get to obtain multiple pieces of gear. Look at their unique stats. Go about permanently learning them and then picking between them without having to worry about keeping the gear for the rest of the games life like XI did. If Shikaree's Doublet had High Tide attached to it, absolutely everyone go out of their way to obtain it and it would be far more relevant than "B...but it gives me Seals!". An overpowered example, but you get the idea. Instead of (apparently relevant) gear being something you obtain and instantly cash in, it's something you hold onto and actually treat like gear, even if it does eventually end up in the same state as our current Glamour based wardrobe simulator.
