How about you actually read the thread I linked? You've clearly missed the part where you Spiritbond the gear and then do not need the gear to have the stats.

Gear gets to be remotely interesting again, without people being stuck in a single piece of gear for the rest of the game because of how useful that stat is. Unlike subclass skills, there would probably be a lot of such stats to unlock and set, adding some much needed character customization to the game.
It doesn't bloat your inventory, because you don't need to carry the gear around. It doesn't devaluate gear, because you can still wear Dreadwyrm Tabard Of Aiming with Enhances Ballads after you've Spiritbond Choral Shirt. No idea what link you read...

You didn't read his link. They're proposing a system where you "learn" abilities from gear, thus making it valuable to obtain many different pieces of equipment, but you can then get rid of it once you learn its unique ability.

Only if they slow down with the ilvls, if they keep both extreme vertical progression and add special effects to keep old gear relevant it would create a situation similar to our current SB system, having to wear low level gear until you learn the skill, which is not a problem when the gear is still current, but -using 2.4 as an example- I'd hate to wear i80 or i90 gear just to learn traits, even if it's temporary.

I do agree with you OP, but 2.0 series is the 'Learning' part. Once 3.0 comes out we will have multiple end game raids. Which sounds like what you want. I really can't wait for this expansion! So exciting.
3.0 is only 6 months away. Maybe sooner, so if it really bugs you that much, just cancel your sub til 3.0 drops.

Not sure on who stated this on a earlier reply, but please stop saying that FFXIV has been out for over 4 years. ARR and FFXIV are two completely different games. Sure the lore NPCs and area names are the same, but totally restructured with new engine, music, playstyle, etc...

All in all wait for expansion, they have already confirmed multiple end game raids will be available, let's hope there will be more of a horizontal gear progression then.

Adding horizontal gear progression to learn different abilities and enhanced abilities is a horrible idea. SE should add horizontal character progression instead.

    Wait... What's the difference?

I can grind EXP on mobs while at the level cap for Merit Points (to copy XI) to learn new stuff, or I can grind EXP on mobs while at the level cap to Spiritbond gear (to copy IX) to learn new stuff.

So... Gear actually having a purpose in this game is a horrible idea? OK then...

But...that's...exactly what horizontal character progression is.

I don't even bother with endgame. I just focus on the horizontal progressions. Level up to 50 with all the classes. Beastman dailies etc etc...
Still, on the FFXI comparison, Rise of the Zilart ~ Heavensward.

I agree with OP and a lot of posts on this thread. I really, really hope they stop raising the ilvl , bring back 1.0 stats or something similar and give all jobs different gear options. Blm/smn and whm/sch should not be sharing gear imho...

No matter what SE does, RPGs are a grind. FFXI was a xp grind, SWG was a skill grind, WoW/SWTOR/FFXIV a gear grind. The trick is to mask the grind into something people enjoy. Let's assume they make job stat gear in 3.0, well then you have to collect even more gear which means more grind.

The armor treadmill is getting old SE, please make the game more fun! I have had about all I can stand with the armor treadmill. I highly doubt that I am going to resub next month. There are so many great games coming out from now to well into the new year. More then enough to keep me busy over the winter!
Instead of blanket statements for feedback why don't you tell SE what you actually want? How are they suppose to fix the problem if they have no idea what you consider fun.
