Nvidia Performance Tweaks 24% Boost in Performance.

Using the FFXIV Benchmark for testing, I went from 96 FPS with the default driver, to 119 FPS after implementing the following two tweaks.

    Required Software:

    GPU-Z

    and

    Nvidia Inspector

    1. The First tweak involves adjusting the multithreaded driver setting for FFXIV's driver profile. This should work for just about any Nvidia user! No special requirements, aside from being an Nvidia user.

Run Nvidia Inspector, and click on the tool icon:

Navigate to the Final Fantasy XIV Real Reborn profile, and click on the Show Unknown Settings Icon:

Go down to line: 0x0092F4DE and set it to: 0x75328097 and click "Apply Changes" in the top right corner. Restart FFXIV.

I call this the multithreaded driver tweak based on the "CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml" file in version 1.9.7.2 of Nvidia Inspector, it shows a friendly name of "Multithreaded driver" for 0x0092F4DE, while "0x75328097" sets the flag to "Disable Async, only dual-core optimization".

    2. The second tweak is a fix put out by Nvidia for Sandy Bridge-E users, on an X79 platform. That's me! The Nvidia fix is used to force PCI-E GEN3 on motherboards that support it. In my case, each time I install a new Nvidia driver, I have to run this fix in order to benefit from Gen3 speeds on all three graphics cards. I'm running Tri-SLi. Restart required after running the force-enable-gen3.exe and when you run the exe, it looks like nothing happens.

To find out if you're running in Gen3 or not, check GPU-Z via the Render Test:

You should get a result like so:

Using the FFXIV Benchmark for testing, I went from 96FPS with the default driver, to 104FPS with the multithreaded driver fix, to 119 FPS with the Gen3 patch installed.

Thanks for the tip, my post has been updated in full. If anyone has any suggestions for how I might improve this guide, I'm all ears.

Note that this only really works with X79 Sandy Bridge-Es. This is because Nvidia decided to only support 5GT/s bus mode by default on these platforms for compatibility reasons. Native PCI 3.0 platforms like Ivy Bridge already run in this mode via driver, and won't see a performance increase by doing this.

Correct on the force PCI-E GEN3, I shared the info for users that may be in that boat. Original post updated, thank you!

The Multithreaded Driver adjustment is not relegated to X79 Sandy Bridge-Es, and should benefit a wider range of Nvidia user.

Sorry for the ignorance but, after I do these modifications, should I restart the game or something or just applying changes would be more than enough?

No worries. After you input the setting in Nvidia Inspector you need to click apply and restart FFXIV. The force PCI-E GEN3 fix requires a PC restart.

But being an Haswell architecture CPU I guess I'm SOL on this fix? Since that technology came after Sandy Bridge and Ivy ( couldn't find a specific .exe file for my case)

    ( I got an i7 4700HQ @2.4 GHZ (effectively 3.2 GHZ with turbo boost / hyperthreading) )

    Thanks for the tweak OP
