About those vintage items in dungeons...

hello. so i thought since everyone and their grandma can roll shenanigans on them it would be a good idea to allow the chance for two of them to drop in one coffer. it could be of the same item or even a different one.

it doesn't even have to be 100%, though would be nice. kinda like how we see sometimes 2 material items drop. but that is rare, so maybe at least a little more often.

SE puts everyone on an even playing field for something; gets called "shenanigans" over it.

well i understand that there should indeed be some competition amongst players when it comes to dungeon loot. i understand that element. but many people on the forums have said they would like gear to come more frequently then materials. SE said they would try to do something. so now not only does the gear items drop at the same frequency as before, but everyone can roll on them.

what difference is it if it's a universal item? since everyone can roll on the item your chances of getting gear is even less now. and again, the drop rate between mats and gear items are the same, so no improvement there. at least before you only had to contend with the possibility of someone playing the same type of class/job as you. and rng gods, but zofcourse.

either way, i don't know if this universal item was supposed to be SE's idea to help accommodate the players who wanted more gear then mats. but i do know it is more difficult to acquire gear like this.

again, it doesn't even have to be 100%. asking for the chance of 1 additional item to drop is within reason. and since the items are unique it would actually do well to make both items exactly the same.

At this point its only for glamour items anyway. And I think they are still available from hunt seals if your luck is just that bad, which is faster anyway. Most the time in dungeons myself and maybe 1 other person rolls on them, so its not like they are a hot commodity. And most ppl I know just get the piece of gear and trade it into the gc for seals. So they have to take that into consideration as well when determining drop rates on things such as this.

Its not like they are making actual needed gear that much harder to come by.

i don't do so well at the hunts. nor does the PS4! :-x anyhow, most people will roll need simply because they can. at least in my experiences. so desired or not you still have up to 3 other people to contend with on the same item. and some people do actually need the gear.

either way, i am not complaining about it. it was just an idea. a worthwhile one, just IMO. even for people that just want to collect glamours.

True, I for example like the idea of Vintage Gear. I can have a fair roll for my iLeveling tank gears as a Healer. Plus now its more general, you don't need multiple runs to see your class/job desired item. Because you need -for example- an armour piece.. not a specific class/job armour piece drop anymore, then you'll do the exchange to whichever your heart like.

Example: I lost at a 97 roll for GREED on an i100 Tank gear in ST because a Tank of iLevel +111 NEED it for a roll of 9.

As that tank who rolls need on all the tank loot . . . I'm using a lot of it to level my Desynthesis skill. A lot of people migh disagree with me, but at the maximum, I have jus as smuch chance as tank loot dropping as healer or DPS Gear.

At least if it's a trade-in item, Everybody can freely lot against each other, and equally use it for however the like. I think it's fair.

Also, if you are, say, a DRG. Your chances o geting gear I think are lower since you are the only class that uses that gear. But maybe it's the same % and every other class gets hosed. Who knows.

and ignoring the fact that the idea in place is just fine.

that's exactly the point... it's not. SE said they would try to do something to make more balance between gear and crafting mats inside dungeons. well so far they have not managed to do it.

to top it all off, most of the mats in the experts sell for like 10gil each on the market board. for such low cost items they could just put them somewhere else. this too would help gear items drop more often.

so really there are now 4 ideas for this...

have a chance for the coffer to drop a duplicate item.

    or

give every boss two coffers. one for crafting item the other for gear item.

    or

leave gear at the bosses and put crafting items in those optional coffers. random chance between those and potions.

    or

remove the cheap mats and put them somewhere else in the game. effectively increasing gear drop rates.
