    Coooooool Fight Ideas

    I wanna hear your ideas of what a cool fight could be. I encourage you to all post something serious, and something funny/over-the-top.

    For my serious idea, I think it'd be pretty awesome to fight a boss that splits your party into four parties of two, and forces you to work in teams of two to take down an add. And then later this mechanic is repeated but now you're solo :0. The add can and should be very tough; imagine fighting doing your level 50 job quest in sub 50 gear, and triple that difficulty. Failure on your part would buff the boss by keeping the adds alive and healers would have to go out of their way to raise you, or they would be unable to raise you at all, because maybe you can't make your way back to the arena.

    For something silly, I do think it'd be fun to fight a gigantic boss in parts, like Titan in FFXIII...if we could actually fight him lol. Start at his toes and work our way up.

    My first idea is for something like Coil level raiding by the way, and the second for 24 man casual/easy content.

    A primal fight where you fight the deadly monster, DDOS. It has a one-shot kill-all attack that not only kills the party but DCs them, and everyone on the server :P

    For the first 30 seconds, everyone gets a debuff that reduces max HP, except the main tank, to 1 that cannot be removed. During this time, the boss will spam avoidable AoEs that deal 1 damage and only that for the entire 30 seconds after which his damage goes back to normal. If anyone dies, the boss gains a permanent damage stack that more or less increases his damage by 10% every stack. The boss will prolly go all Touhou-style to whoop everyone's asses.

    Ive never really thought about what would be my cool fight idea. but I guess rather than insta-death mechanics, Id love an entirely randomized fight with attacks that do serious damage but not instant death. Make its so you are always on your toes, but not so much so that you cant recover should one or two persons die.

    how about something like we, as the warriors of light, find out through some story events that a national treasure protected by all 3 city-states becomes corrupted or will cause some cataclysmic event and only those with the echo can tell. thus trying to thwart the impending threat/doom we attempt to steal/destroy said artifact only to be confronted by the leaders of every class guild or maybe the main npcs from the job questlines, who at that point think we're the bad guys and try to take us out? could be interesting to fight them all at the same time, could even have extreme versions of the fight as well

    I think a crafter/gatherer instance would be sweet. Something along these lines:


    4 man instances, two DoH and 2 DoL.

    Let's be generic and say that we need to get from point A to point B. Along the way there's downed trees and rock piles that the loggers and miners need to clear out of the way, and these things contain materials that will be used later on.

    There could be gaps in the terrain where, depending on your the class you have, you either build a bridge to get across, or fashion hooks and ropes to repel down and back up. Or it could be obstacles we need to get over, whatevs.

    There could be monsters where the DoL have to stealth by and then, either gather materials to make weapons to fight em off, or you could catch fish for a cook to make a food that will lure them away. There's a lot of variations you could do here.

    The treasure chests could have either crafting mats and/or Gathering/Crafting materia. Or hell, this could be a place where they put sealants in to give another means at getting em.

    Something along those lines. I just think a non-combat instance would be a welcomed idea.

    I suggested a throw-back dungeon once where the fights would all be turn-based. There are more than two MMORPGs that have executed turn-based well. (One of the non-strategy ones is "Wonderland Online." That one uses a Lufia-styled command system in fights and a countdown clock so that if you idle too long in making a choice, you default to your last choice.)

    I would like to see some movement in fights, I believe there is going to be an airship fight so that is a start - examples would be fighting on top of a train with carts latching off and on, racketing cross the tracks, being able to fall off (re-spawn within the base cart, continue pushing forward climbing out to the top and down through other sections), having to charge your section and pick paths down a mobile branch dungeon. WoW's dragon boss example is meh, although Diablo 3's battering ram example is a short and simple yet pretty wild feeling event, I nearly get queasy doing that lol.

    Don't know why I thought of it now but for silly, a gambling Oogie Boogie KH1/2 like boss could fit in Golden Saucer. Also singing robot fight (Chrono Trigger).

    I'd like to see more dungeons that rely on DPS than the tanks or healers (IE: The three expert dungeons we have.) As well as dungeons that force a strict no-speedrun policy with gates / etc.
