Want to get into PVP. Which job/class is best FOTM for easy grind?

Hey guys, I want to start doing the PVPs, but I don't want to trudge through a hard learning curve grind.
So my question is: which job is the current FOTM in Frontlines PVP for FFXIV at the moment?
(I know it usually changes between patches, but since one came out yesterday, maybe it changes things?)

    Ummm....

So to be honest, ALL jobs have the exact same frontlines queue time...so you don't 'get in quicker' by being a specific role. Furthermore, you could play your role horridly OR be the best on your team and STILL walk away with the exact same reward...as it is 100% a team effort. As to the 'learning curve' ALL roles have a learning curve, and the curve is about the same. So I'd suggest using the role you enjoy playing the most....if after a couple matches, that role doesn't 'feel right' to you, try a different role. The ONLY role I might suggest not starting as is a healer....and that is only because you have to be able to keep your team alive while being the other teams main target...this does actually require some knowledge of the battle/ the arena/ casting ranges/your role/your PVP skills and can be stressful ( esp depending on team comp/opponents). Every other role however, is much less 'pressure to get it 100% correct/100% of the time'

That all said, what will effect your 'grind' the most is what nation you fight for...and it might be worth looking into which nation on your data center atm either has: The highest win percentage and/or the Fastest Queue lines. This is what will effect your ability to quickly rank and level and learn the most. Because joining a '3rd place team' that has 20 minute queues....might still net you greater exp for time spent than joining the 'Winning' nation that might have 70 minute queues. (there is a pity loser bonus...the more your team loses, the more marks/exp you get out of SE pity :P)

That all said, I haven't been in post patch 2.4
What I can tell you my sense is:

    1. Each party really only can most effectively use 1 WHM atm...having 2(or more) is redundant and doesn't work as well as having a SCH/WHM would....or even Multiple SCH's right now trumps multiple WHM's. (WHM is the role that got the nerf hammer this patch) So unless you happen to be a WHM main, I'd maybe avoid it for right now...but that is a personal choice.
    2. NIN is likely very popular due to being the new, in vogue thing (also it is likely not everyone queing Frontlines knows how to counter NIN in frontlines yet/is use to their stealth)
    3. I'm going to suggest that Tanks are likely a little more useful now since healer stacking is less useful (tanks like to torment healers/casters)
    4. Buff removing roles like Monk are always needed b/c they torrment SCH/WHM/SMN
    5. Casters and their LB are also in high demand....although the timing of the LB is a critical thing new casters need to learn
    6. Bards are good at annoying basically everyone....and always a 'safe' option, but lack useful LB tools.

Lastly, if you are working on your Novus weapon, pick that role....you can farm lights while you rank up.

Monk & Ninja are the easiest classes to play in FL imo, they both have straight forward play styles and have one definitive roll : harass and kill the spellcaster. If you don't want a "learning curve" then definitely stay away from healing classes.

This ^^. Cannot stress this enough.

Healer has the steepest learning curve and as a healer you usually have the biggest impact in determining whether your team is fail or not (at least when you are in team A or C anyway). This stress of course is reduced the more healers you are stacked with but its honestly pretty rare to have more than 2 total healers in a party. Also, as counter-productive as this is in a team based event, if you find that your playstyle involves you going around solo alot you can eliminate blm, brd and smn from your list of choices as they are easily the three weakest and most defenseless jobs in pvp solo situations. The forums already have enough threads of blms and smns crying that they cant solo people in a team-oriented game mode so dont be that next guy that makes a thread about it.

don't listen to Dimitrii, he doesn't have the slightest clue of balancing and just wants blm stick to the role of being a free kill.

just try out different classes and play whatever playstyle you like the most :P
if paladin is your main class you might try him, really good group support + they can be super annoying

    Hmm, this is all good.
I was wary of doing healers (especially WHM as they got nerfed when I read about it) and wary of DPS caster (except maybe summoner because of pet? But that seems like an easy target to cut your DPS in half).
Monk and Warrior were those I was leaning towards. I heard ninja was good too, but the rotation takes a lot more attention so it may not be my grain of salt.
Monk and Warrior. Warrior will be a bit easier to level up since it's a tank class.

Can you kill things easily with Warrior in PvP and survive relatively well? Does it take a lot of clout to remain on top of things?

And if you look around you might find guides suggesting classes, especially for marauder, but all that's been nerfed into the ground with the patch that brought straight damage dealt/damage taken bonuses to jobs. So warrior, not marauder.

LOL yes. Yes you can. Although your role is less 'killer' and more 'dude that annoys the crap out of the other team esp their healers/casters' and is the last one most teams will target back to actually kill. Sure, you're be slept/bound/knocked around alot (Healers and mages using their skills to escape your torment), but you won't be the priority target like ever. Also, because you have access to some exceptionally high health/defense, Tank roles are one of the good 'scout' roles (people who go looking for easy pickings on flags...try to 1v1 a simple flag etc). And a tank+healer duo team can take almost any lightly guarded flag fairly easily (4ppl or less).

Where you will struggle is in burst damage situations, and have overall, the least direct impact over the ebb and flow of the battle (since you lack the ability to dps burn like dedicated dps, and lack the ability to heal others, you must rely on your groups healers/dd's to be able to stay alive and burn fast while you annoy the other people...this is when facing a full team+ on a flag.) Furthermore, when doing the PvE mobs (center), your damage on the mobs is many times less important and you again spend most of your time annoying the other teams DD's/healers enough so that they can't kill the nodes before your team does. I only mention this 2nd part because it sounds like you want to be the 'killer' more than the 'annoyer' If you want to see your Name with a lot of DPS/kills behind it, you might be better off trying a Melee DD role...but if you are more about being able to 1v1, and survive and just be all-around nasty...and care less about personal kills/DPS numbers, Tank roles are for you (and yes, tanks can do Decent DPS...it's just, not your primary role...your primary role in Frontlines is to 'keep the casters/healers busy' and protect your own healers (you have some PvE tank moves depending on role that protect a party member+ PvP moves that aid in assisting the 'squishy' members of your group) secondary is killing the other team/sniping weak flags.

Basically, you are Support/specialist like me (a Main WHM healer). My main role is to keep the party (and myself) alive, while dealing with annoying tanks like you :P. Secondary role is killing the other team/sniping weak outposts (Healers can make good sniper post snatchers too if they know their limitations/PvP skills). Point Tanks and Healers don't go into PvP to 'kill' they go in to 'annoy' The 'killers' are DD's.

I have to say that on my main I do play WHM in Frontlines (90% the time - unless i'm in B then which case i got BLM and die so fast its just ugh).

Warriors and Paladin's aren't ever the main targets although when they are the only ones left at a base they tried to attack we tend to CC and burn em down.. But yeah both of those classes are a goddamn nuisance to all casters/ranged. In the games I've played generally A & B most of the time have 3 healers (an ideal setup for base teams) which makes it a little easier to survive and keep everyone alive.

Getting back to the point however as my darling Hito mentioned, you should try PLD and maybe also WAR - see which one suits you best and annoy all the healers like myself and those bothersome casters. And enjoy FL, because its quite fun once you get yourself settled.
