i cant hear no sound in game

i hear sound in everything else on my pc. i even hear sound in the ffxiv opening movie. but once i start the game i have absolutely no sound. i check all the configs in on out of the game. i updated drivers and my pc says they are u to date. im stumped.. anyone having this problem?

I don't have problems with loosing sound, unless I try to switch from one sound source to another (ie Headphones to speakers).

First, verify that you have the latest version of DirectX

You can also try changing your default sound format to see if that resolves the issue. But it's sort of a shot in the dark.

Control Panel - Sound - (Select your Device) - Properties - Advanced - Default Format

thanks guys it was my directx it was uninstalled. im now enjoying ffxiv to the fullest
