    Ishgardian classes

Okaay as we all know Heavensward is coming this spring (which is bye the bye a pretty short wait for an expansion that was just announced) and ammong other things we will get Ishgard as a fully functional city state.

In terms of classes that means at the very least:
    - one DoM
    - one DoW(usually two, but Limsa only had one till ninja)
    - one DoL
    - two DoHs(Limsa and Ul'dah have three, but Gridania has only two)

The two new fighting classes also mean two new jobs at the very least.

Nothing has been officially revealed as far as I know, but Dark Knight(Batman!) is taken for granted by some sites

Now the question is not what people would want, but what would fit thematically with Ishgard?

I for example think Samurai is wishfull thinking at best, but Blue Mage could be a logical answer to the dravanian threat.

What about crafting and gathering? What is the market niche that can and should be filled?

The said they want to get a tank and healer class with the expancion so if DRK is not a tank we may get more than just 2 classes.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

Yeah. I just gathered what I assumed to be the minimum that we can expect. For all we know, the class number could be doubled.

Only the classes have to be tied to Ishgard. Nothing suggests old classes can't get second job crystals that come from somewhere else.

Since DK is seen as the dark counterpart of Paladin, it is a safe bet that it is also a tank.

I think Dancer will show up because the dance teacher from Ul'dah's Ball Dance quest, Guillaunaux, is from Ishgard.

That is very true. Even now only Gladiator/Paladin and Conjurer/White Mage are the only class/job combinations directly linked to classes' starting city.

Dark Knight is more often an offensive heavy armor melee frontliner with semi-tanking capabilities. It tends to share offensive duties with the Monks and Dragoons.

Isnt Black Mage also a class connected to it's city state? (AKA: Ul'dah)

I can see the new classes being released for the 3.0 build being linked significantly to Ishgard. Dark Knight especially since the Holy See of Ishgard may start reviving old and/or forbidden art's and magic's so they can combat the looming Dragon horde's and the possible awakening of Niddhog (or whoever the evil elder Dragon (not Bahamut) was)

Yes. Now the question is, what classes make sense? I for one think that Samurai doesn't. As much as I love samurai, as everything else related to japanese culture, it would be totally alien in Ishgard.

Well... lady Higiri is from Doma. She obviously knew how to fight. There might be other Doman's who fled and desire to bring back their fighting styles. That and since Domans have pretty much started to take up residence in Mor Dhona, they could very well aid Ishgard in its battle against the Dragon's since they are allies.

Good point. Yugiri already gave Limsa ninjas so others could follow her example. Especially since her races is the new selectable race. And of course Mor Dhona is right next to Coerthas, so the refugees in Revenant's toll don't have to walk for long to reach Ishgard.

Ishgardian themed jobs, Dark Knight obviously fits that bill very well, and could possible branch off of a Templar or Temple Knight class. Lore wise being a rogue knight learning the dark arts.

Chemist would work well with the castle themes aswell for a healer.

Maybe we'll get a grittier take on Musketeer as opposed to pirate lark we've seen up until now (although that's a long shot (pun slightly intended))

Geomancer or Necromancer has a good aesthetic for the expansion.

They also mentioned a lot of Beast Tribe run areas, maybe this could lead to Beastmaster or Blue Mage. (Grasping at straws here)

Slightly off topic; I'll be incredibly surprised if we don't see Alexander as a summon at some point during the expansion.
