Keep an eye on the mob groupings. If there are ranged mobs you should hold out on dropping flaming arrow or other similar AoE's until all the mobs are grouped up nicely. I've seen many players drop them as soon as I get to the last group regardless if there are any ranged enemies I still need to huddle up. I'm sure what you said happens from time to time with no reason, but I know I personally see it due to ranged enemies being out of the group. Too many bards and summoners jumping the gun. If I have a team trying to AoE burn everything then getting all the enemies together is more important to me than your flaming arrow hitting 3 out of 6.

I always look at the party before I decide what I'm pulling; but 9 times out of 10 I find it easy and faster to do mass pulls, when the dungeons are tuned to levels 50-80 and most people are i110 now, there is very few instances where I can't pull half the room.

I read the first page but don't really have time at the moment to go through the rest. That being said, my main is WHM, and I hated speed runs. When I first hit WP, and tanks were pulling, I was like ya. No. But after a while it also taught me how to heal in pinch. Brayflox HM is a perfect example. The first time that dungeon came out, our tank pulled all the goblins in the second area. Now, those gliders target random party members, and it just so happened that I got targeted by all of them, and to add insult to injury, 80% of the dmg I took was from crits. I died. And I got blamed. But I got better.

Now I have a Lv 50 PLD. I still don't like speed runs. But there are times where I feel I am being forced to. I am still learning my class, but I have had BLM pull the next group when I have 0 mp left for flash, and expect me to deal with it. I agree, that as a tank we need to take a look at our party make up and if there are any first timers go from there.

Let him die. You're the tank. You know what resources you have to hold hate. If you aren't ready for the pull and they pull anyway then it sounds like they can experience what it's like to tank, die, and hit the re-spawn button to take his walk of shame back to the party. If you aren't the tank you have no business pulling.

what this argument really boils down to is tanks have been conditioned to speed run and try to go as fast as possible in dungeons because a large portion of pugs bitch and moan if you don't. And the skills and decision making process for a tank are going to be different for everyone. No one is exactly the same here, so arguing over the proper way to do things is pointless.

You also have a lot of outside factors contributing to the problem as well. Some of these are impatient party members that want to get through the dungeon as fast as they can so they run into monsters. Yes you can let them die, but you're just going to make people upset and then the rest of the run things are going to be tense and stressful. Also you have people just trying to cap their poetic tomes for the week, so running the same dungeons over and over again could get boring fast and take a toll on the mental energy. It's exhausting sometimes to do things over and over again.

Lastly FC's do have an influence on this too. You're someone who likes to do things with your FC as much as you can. So you get used to being with people who know exactly what your playstyle is and you gain some great teamwork. you get really used to it, so much so that when you pug something, you get frustrated and angry really easily when a party member doesn't do exactly what you are used to your FC mates doing. It's not necessarily anyone's fault but your own unrealistic expectations for strangers. I think if everyone tried to be a little nicer during pugs we might see a slight change.

I do agree some time dps want us to pull more so I just pulls anyway it make thing faster and since I am a warrior I have full control of aggro if things get dicey, for example that one time I want a fast run I pulled 3 group of mobs if I die and we wipe I just say sorry and we will process with one group pulls is just that simple, I seen high level gear healer can't heal for shit I can even die to 3 trash mobs while other i100 solo healing 4 groups of mobs so yea is more of a wipe and see if you ask me

There 2 side to this story and Tank is not always to blame. I see the opposite now, I keep getting DPS, sometime Healer too who go in and pull when the Tank haven't pull yet and gather up the Mob. Tank just left after that, and I don't blame them. Happens twice in one day of que.

The best advice I would give is that if your tank is a warrior you got high hope for mass pull but for paladin nah it's too troublesome to do mass pull as paldain have to wait for mana and such

Riot blade-ing near the end of the mass pulls or during bosses is usually enough if you start to run low. You don't need to empty MP to hold hate, just enough to have everything initially on you after which you can just split your combo across multiple enemies.
