New Player Need Help Picking servere

Hello im a new player just started playing yesterday and was wondering whats the best server a new player can go on to learn and have some fun most active or has the most new players need an NA server if anyone would kindly guide me would be helpfull. and im kinda undecided on class i played mage every mmo to date but wanted to know how archer is the Magic classes.

According to the info under your name your server is currently Balmung which I'm happy to say is probably the most popular NA server in the game (it was the unofficial role playing server in the original version of FFXIV and has kind of kept that reputation), so you shouldn't have any trouble making friends and finding a Free Company/linkshell to join. In fact, you are really lucky you managed to create a character there - usually the server is full and players are unable to make new characters on it or transfer to it (I have two alt characters on there myself by the way).


As for your class question, Archer (ARC for short) is probably the easiest class to pick up at the start, as you can hit enemies from a distance while moving, something mage classes can't do, meaning it can be a very fun class to play as. ARC gains a Job upgrade in the form of Bard (BRD), which although retaining the ranged attacks, also gains song abilities which help party members, meaning it's very useful in a party.

However, once you've done all the quests given by the ARC Guild to level 10, you will unlock the Armoury System which will allow you to change to another class at will, meaning you are not trapped into ARC for the whole game if you like playing mage classes. Either way, how you play is up to you.

guess ill just stick to the server i had started a couple characters on Faerie, Mateus and cactura just didnt know which one to make my home server even tho all my chrs are still level 1 lol.

so instead of starting a new thread i figured i try and get an answer here it has probably been answered numerous times but when or how do i ride or get a mount the the little pets i see ppl walking round with that helps them in fights? Also im looking for anyone who would want to play with me im a level 21 archer and play on balmung kinda sucks playing solo thanks.

Follow the Main Scenario questline and you will eventually be able to purchase a chocobo license from your Grand Company. The quest will be titled "My Little Chocobo" and will appear at your Grand Company's HQ. After level 30 there will be a quest called "My Feisty Little Chocobo" at Bentbranch which will let you summon your chocobo to fight alongside you.

That one's at Camp Tranquil in the South Shroud (though it then sends you to Bentbranch).
