A lot of different questions from a new player...

I am not really a new player, since I have over 90 days of registration with the game. However, I have not a lot of experience with MMO and this kind of game is really new to me.

1- Am I wrong saying that color weapon (ex : uncommon sword that is green) is not a lot better that the common? What I mean is that expected that a rare gear would be really, really good. (ex : level 15 sword that is really rare = level 19 common sword) but I find that the gear a very similiar. Sure, the epic or rare one is better, but the stats are not a lot better. First, Am I wrong? Second, if not, is the difference a lot higher at higher level?

2- At level 27, the gear is still not that exciting. If I look for my gladiator, there seem to be 4-5 weapons for him that are Worth considering. Is it the same with all the MMO? I played a little bit of WOW and there was a lot of weapon. Is this true? Is the lack of weapon for low level character is a problem?

3- When you died, is there any negative impact? I know that you must travel back to where you were, but is there any other impact?

4- When playing conjurer (PS4), is there a way to have to option to target only two-three creatures? What I mean is this. I play a low level conjurer with my friend. I want to focus on him and the monster. Attack a little bit the monster...heal my friend and keep this patern. However, when I change the target, I often have problem to got back to the last target. So, if another player is in the way, my target will go on him. However, I dont want that. I want to be able to target my friend and the monster easely, without fumble....

5- Every gear I got have to color line. One seem to be the condition of the gear. What is the other?

6- I just got my chocobo. How can you personalise it? Can you buy gear at store? Is there store that sell only chocobo gear?

7- Why cant you put every item you want on the selling board? What are the conditions that made a item ok to sell or not?

8- Is there a way to find easely a free company in the game? On the official site, I saw that my server got a fast company that speak my langage, but how do I find them? Must I run over all the game to try to speak to one?

9- What are the benefits to have a house? What more can you do?

10- Since I am new to MMO, its hard for me to understand the fishing or cooking class. Can someone go from 1-50 just by fishing? What is the purpose of this kind of class?

thank you very much for taking the time to read my post. I appreciate

11- Somethimes, a creature put a Template in front of him to make a attack. If you move off the Template and go behind him, are you still hurt? Is this a auto hit?

Firstly you can edit a post after you've made it, and increase the amount of characters, as to not make multiple posts.

1-At lower levels, the stat difference between the rare and the common weapons, is NOT that big, however as the levels rise, it does become a noticeable increase from just a few points to closer to 10 points. What you look at for the rare Items is the Item Level. If you have a piece of gear that is level 15 from a Merchant and a piece that is level 15 from a Sastasha treasure chest, the item from Sastasha is actually = to a level 17 item instead of a level 15, the benefit is that it is an item you can use for a few more levels before it can be replaced.

2- For most MMO's there are usually only a few weapons that are available per level or for a level range of your character. What is different is that weapons in FFXIV are semi customizable with materia ( a whole new slew of questions will be asked about that I am sure ) So you can but a Sword that has 2 empty slots and either use it as it is, or add 2 pieces of Materia to it, maybe you want more Accuracy you can put that on it, maybe someone else wants a small boost to Damage so they put more determination on it. That is the primary reason there aren't a lot of weapons to choose from, you can customize the stats that are on them. Later in the game there are lots to choose from, and you will eventually find out there is always one that is Far better than the rest and FAR harder to obtian.

3- When you die, you gear deteriorates, as well as having to start back at the last place that was you homepoint. The Travel itself DOES have negative impacts as well, you automatically will fail an Leves or solo instanced duties upon leaving the area. Mostly its the gear deteriorating by a few percent, it can get expensive to repair your gear if you die frequently.

4-When I play on PS3 (rarely) I find that in battle the Up and down on the directional pad will select different party members and side to side will target different enemies, if you are in combat.

5- the two lines are for Gear durability and for spiritbond. Spirit bond, once full, allows you to convert gear ( must say convertable: yes) into Materia, which are gems that can be later affixed by crafters, to boost stats provided there are slots on the gear to put the materia in, there are exceptions but if you looks up the Materia system there is a lot of Info and I still don't have a 100% grasp on it yet.

6-For you chocobo there are Many ways to personalize it, at level 35 you can start to train it to fight along side you as a party member, and you can customize what role in the party it will play, or you can mix and match and let it pick what it wants to do by picking many different skills.( the last one will not allow you to choose a special rank 10 barding for specializing in one set of skills.) You can buy different barding from you Grand Company, also there is Barding that is crafted, and hugely expensive, from drops that come from doing late game content. You get Barding as a veteran reward ( subscribing for a long period of time. ) You can stable your Chocobo once you or your freecompany has a Chocobo stable where their house is, that allows you to train it with different food rewards that make it more prone to certain actions as well as give it snacks that will change it color if fed enough of the fruits.

7- Some Items have labels that mean they have limitations, they are Unique: you can only possess one of this particular item at a time, and untradable meaning you can't give it to another player or sell it on the Market Boards, it will display either or both of these at the top of the little window that describes the item. It's done to keep rare items feel special when you get them so its not something anyone can just buy.

8-The easiest way to find a FC is to put an advertisement in Party Finder, or to join parties and talk to people, you get invited to them very quickly if you show that you have a good personality.

9-Houses, they are a place you can personalize, if you get certian furniture you can teleport to your house, put gear in your free company chest, summon your retainer, hire vendors for your house, as well as have a garden to grow plants that give you access to materials for crafting and chocobo training without having to buy them, and it gives you a place to put a chocobo stable to train your chocobo or feed it to change its colors.

10- Fishing is like a mini-game its a challenge to catch rare fish, also it provides ingredients for crafts, cooking makes useable food, the food can give you boosts to your stats so say you make Mulled tea as your culinarian, you can use it on your Conjurer in a dungeon and you will get a % boost to Piety, determination and spell speed.

11- The template is to show you where the attack will land, it is not Auto hit, but you have to be outside of the template before it finishes "readying" or "casting" the move. There is a little bar up top where the monster's name and HP bar is that has the name of the move and a yellow line, when the yellow line reaches the other side, it finishes readying the move, if you are in the template when the move is readied, you will be hit, if you move out before the line finishes, it will not affect you.

    Hope this helps.

Nothing major, but it causes some extra damage to your equipment.

If you're in a party with your friend, the up/down arrows on the controller can switch your target amongst different players in your party. Then use left-right to target enemies.

It's the percent of SpiritBond. Once your spiritbond reaches 100%, the item is able to be converted into Materia (if that item type can be converted at all, some can't).

Some chocobo gear can be bought from your Grand Company in exchange for GC seals. You may have to rank up in the GC first before those become available, though. There is also sometimes special gear made avialable just during seasonal events.

There's two conditions that will prevent you from being able to sell an item. One is if the item is marked as "Untradeable" which means that particular type of item is something important enough that SE wants each character to have to earn or get for themselves, and not purchase from another player who had earned it.

The other reason is if the item is Bound to you. Once you use or wear a weapon, tool, or armour piece in combat or crafting, it becomes bound to you and you can no longer trade it to other players.

Mainly it's a place you can decorate as you like, hang out at and call your own. But you can also have a garden there to grow crops, and a chocobo stable which can help your chocobo companion level up.

Each class has its own level, so yes, you can take the Fisherman class from level 1-50, but that won't affect your level as a Gladiator. The purpose of fishing is mainly to acquire the fish that Culinarians use as ingredients to craft food items. (A few fish are used by other crafting classes as well, but it's mostly culinarians.)

The colored area shows where an AoE (Area of Effect) attack is about to land. Anyone within that area when the attack completes will take damage from it. Sometimes it's just in front of the mob readying the attack, sometimes it's a circle all around them, but to avoid the attack you just have to move out of the marked area by the time it completes. (So yes, if it's the type that extends out in front of the mob, then moving behind it keeps you safe.)

How do you know that a 15 level gear = to a level 17 gear? Is there a math formula to determine this?

It's called Item Level and is stated on the item's toolip (on the gray bar separating the top section with damage or defense from the next section with stat modifiers). All equippable gear has an item level. For the regular (light grey background) items, that Item Level will be the same as the level required to equip the item, but for some of the better (green or blue background) gear (certain dungeon drops while leveling, or a wide variety of endgame gear), the Item Level is higher to indicate it's better than the regular stuff you'd equip at that level.

no it will say on it "Item level #" The text is in Japanese yes, but "ITEM LEVEL 100" is clear, that is where you look, the level that it is equipable is lower on the display
