That may be true, but it won't amount to much at the end of the day. One X-Ether would net a caster pretty much one or two spells more (if that), and their overall boost in damage or healing would still be incredibly limited to that...what is it, 15 or 20 second buff? Besides, as a BLM, you should really only use an X-Ether or Hi-Elixir to set up a second or third Flare, or as a save from a bad rotation, so they gain little advantage. SCH and SMN have Aetherflow... enough said. That leaves WHM as the greatest benefactor, but that's still not much.

Don't underestimate 400-500 MP as a healer. If I have to raise a couple times, or if I happen to die at all, that X-Ether sustains me for a bit until my Shroud/Aetherflow comes off CD. You may not think it's much, given that it's roughly 2-4 GCDs worth of spells depending on what you use, but I've saved parties with a perfectly timed X-Ether before. They aren't meant to be used regularly, IMO, but mainly for situational purposes. You can say BRD is better, but MP song is gradual, not a burst 500 MP back to me, which is much more useful in the short term.
