New lvl 50 needs some advice...

Hello folks.

I just hit level 50 with my ninja (and very first 50 overall) and I was hoping to get a little bit of advice on where to go from here. Particularly with regards to gear progression (which I'll be working on in between leveling up my LNC class for Invig and B4B). There are so many things out there and I really have absolutely no idea where to start and any help would be appreciated.

(As an aside...I did find the A Relic Reborn quest for the ninja's Yoshimitsu...I just can't craft the bloody knife that's needed for the very first step of it. Curse my not leveling DoH stuff. Alchemy in this case.)

If you're looking to go through all the steps as far as gear progression it's the following (I think):

ilvl 55-70: Dungeons that are in the High Level Roulette list
ilvl 80: Crystal Tower
ilvl 90: Coil Turns 1-5 / The newest Expert Roulette dungeons
ilvl 100: Syrcus Tower / Allied Seals from hunts / Soldiery gear
ilvl 110: Second Coil / use Sands and Oil of time to unweather Soldiery Gear
ilvl 120: Poetics gear
ilvl 130: Final Coil

You don't HAVE to go through all the steps, but this is I think a pretty comprehensive list in terms of ilvl.

Oh...just to make sure I'm understanding something correctly..."ilvl" is shorthand for Item Level...?

Yes ilvl is short for item level.

Just shout for an Alchemist to do the craft for you in town, they can also meld your materia into your relic weapon.

In terms of progressing through the game to get to the highest item level the fastest, you should:

- ALWAYS cap your tomestones of Poetics as best you can every week, you can buy ilvl 120 items!

- Do high-level roulette dungeons (queue for the roulette once a day for your tome bonus, then queue for the highest ilvl required dungeons you can subsequently)

- Once you reach the appropriate item level, start queuing for Syrcus Tower (after you unlock it, of course!) and get all the loot and Sands/Oils of Time, as well as an Unidentified Allagan Tomestone for your i110 weapon.

- After you have receive gear and upgrade items from ST, start working on the raid content, you can certainly participate in BCoB (T1-5) before you reach item level 90, but it will make the mechanics more forgiving and other players more likely to help you if you can get to ilvl 90 with at least an i90 weapon.

- After you beat T5, start working on SCoB - this will be a real challenge, and you will be expected to be ilvl 100+ to participate in Party Finder groups.


Avoid the Duty finder for raids to being with, it will likely be full of rude people.

Most importantly, hook up with a good FC that can guide you along the way!
