    New Player: Roulette

Many of us including myself love when we party with new players because we get that New player bonus that many of us could use to get our soldiery or poetic tomes faster, so I think it would be a good idea to add a "New Player: Roulette" which allows us to join any content needed by a new player.

This will also increase the amount of healers and tanks that do low level content like low level dungeons.

Personally, I'd prefer that they just give preference when assigning roulettes to players that have the new status - for post-50 dungeons or pre-50. It solves some of the pain on a new class' release for anyone who's still new to the game, it helps them get into and learn content faster, and does basically the same general effect.

Deliberately adding a separate roulette for new players, as nice as it sounds, will be ignored by a lot of players deliberately because "I don't wanna teach some noob" and/or result in more trolling than we've already got.

As Garlyle said, many high level players would deliberately avoid the roulette for those reasons, and also you might find that new players would not have experienced players around to show them the ropes. Not to mention, several classes are quite dull to play at lower levels -- tanks in particular -- so you would find those players avoiding the dungeons if not for the newbies.

Given they announced recently of looking into the bloat of High Level roulette, they may still do something about Low Level too. But I hope it won't be something like this because to be honest players still learn things post-50 and separating the queues like that would only make things worse for both sides.

Someone has to teach them just like someone had to teach you, and the extra bonus is awesome, Plus I don't mean a whole party of new players I mean 1 in group to gain the bonus. Obliviously the other new players would que with other experienced players so most people can get the bonus.

    I'd use this feature.

As someone who can't play several hours per day every day, utilizing and maximizing those "bonuses" is sometimes the only way I cap my tomes each week. The concept would work well, assuming there is only 1 new player per group of 4, or 2 per group of 8, it should be easy for veteran players to either teach the new ones how to run the dungeon/trial, or carry them through if absolutely necessary. Certain players would avoid that roulette, which is fine, because many veteran players don't mind teaching others, especially with a bonus involved.

I think this is a great idea and I'd use it as well to help new players. Plus you'll also know what you're getting into and can help explain to someone the mechanics as you go.

I thought Low Level Roulette did this already? But of course you end up with some runs without any new players and I assume this is because there weren't any who needed a particular dungeon at that very instant.

I do not think a new player roulette will help new players. It will further segregate people from doing the already present low level roulette's and such. The DR is intended to help all players and new ones included, the bonus is only intended to be an incentive to help them. If you add new player versions of DR on top of what already exists then it would take even longer for new players to get help and may even be (potentially) detrimental to new players.

The problem(s) with low level roulette (or any specific roulette) is that that's not necessarily where any particular subset of players are when another subset "needs" them. If someone new to Ifrit HM is stuck waiting in queue, while loads of experienced players are grinding through Haukke HM or Sastasha SM together (again), that kinda sucks.

Throwing every possible duty into one roulette cuts down on that problem a good deal. Mostly cuts down on new players waiting for experienced players to join the specific roulette they need.

And to cut down on possible trolls, I still like the idea of giving the new player a pop-up asking if the party was helpful; if yes, bonus tomes, if no, fewer (or no) tomes.

10 posts per page is only the default setting; it is bad, and you should feel bad if you haven't changed it.

How? Would the proposed roulette not give priority to new players (since you need to either be a new to that particular duty or a veteran player looking to help [or gain a bonus from helping] someone new to it)?

Imagine low level roulette, but instead of occasionally getting 4 veteran players and no bonus, it was guaranteed to have 3 veterans and 1 new player every time, plus have a higher bonus for completing the roulette.
