Yeah ive thought of the cataclysmic way to change and alter the current areas, but then all the areas would become wastelands wouldnt they? And i doubt the area redesign will be an enormous crater across all of the land.

That's what I was thinking. It's a cool idea, but it doesn't seem very realistic. A meteor striking Eorzea would not make everything look prettier. That wouldn't make any sense. :P

Unless it's some magical meteor that brings new life rather than death.

True. It would be awesome if the meteor got really big in the sky, and then explodes with green life energy (like the stuff from FFVII). This energy would rain down upon Eorzea for a week or so, and then they update with new zones, making it seem as though the energy has reshaped Eorzea.
