    Auto Chat Log Re-sizing Suggestion

In FFXI Online, the chat log could be set to auto drop line by line out of sight after a certain amount of time without player input, or forced down out of sight with the use of a key or controller button. As a parent, and as a player who is aware that online interactions can not be monitored, I would like the ability to press a key or a controller button to reduce the amount of lines displayed by my chat log. It only seems responsible that I be provided such an optional use device. The current profanity filter does not catch everything. Certain themes of discussion which also may never be caught by a profanity filter are currently displayed constantly on screen until enough chat has been entered to move the offensive word/phrase/sentence up out of the displayed logs view.

Thank you to anyone who takes this request in to consideration for implementation. I apologize if this item has already been requested. I tried to browse posts regarding re-sizing and nothing relevant appeared.

While not exactly what you asked for, a couple new features should help with that sort of problem. You can hide the chat box, or delete past messages from it.

    From the Patch 2.4 Notes:

The ability to temporarily hide the log window has been added.
Select Hide Log Window from the subcommand menu of the channels bar to temporarily hide the log window. To redisplay the log window, press the Enter key, or when using a gamepad, the BACK, SELECT, or Touch Pad buttons.

The following text commands have been added:
/clearlog, /cl →Delete all past messages from your entire chat log.
