Why are numbers valued more highly than fun.

Some of you players are ridiculous and quite insecure. You get a new job and find it very enjoyable and the first thing you worry about is it getting nerfed and becoming "less" good, as if a overall 2% decrease in DPS would ruin the fun for you.

Most people want to be the best at something. A job that puts up big numbers will draw a lot of players because they want the thrill of putting big numbers up and the admiration of their fellow players. For most of us playing an MMO it's about trying to get the next best thing or being the best at what we do. When that comes under threat people get nervous. For most of us the fun is putting up big numbers,when you take those numbers away, there goes the fun.
