    Ranking up, Behest and NM

    Currently one of the biggest issue about ranking up is that our only goal is to get to rank 50.

    In others mmo while ranking up we could set our "personal goals", in Aion for instance we wanted mid rank gear, dropped by NM inside dungeons (Nochsana Taining Camp, Fire Temple, Steel Rake...). The drop rate was awful, we had to do tons of runs before we could see something valuable, but the thing is that at that point we gained several ranks so the grinding process was alleviated.

    In FFXIV we have nothing like that, our only goal is getting to r50 and we feel every single rank as a pain.

    But I think we have already the right medium to implement these things: Behest. If you think about it they're like a lot of mini dungeons spread all over Eorzea. The only point is that they're not enough challenging or rewarding.

    So here's my suggestion: make Behests harder, make them last a bit longer and once all of the mobs are killed make a NM pop (not something too hard, let's say something in line with faction's NM) that could drop a nice mid rank unique gear (or material, or runestone, or whatever can be considered a goal).

    With a better loot system and once the party size will be lowered from 15 to 8/4 I think this system would alleviate a lot the ranking up process, would give us a goal to reach every 10 ranks and would mitigate the congestion of players at the same camp.

    The best part is that I guess this would be something easy to implement since it would be something built on an already existing feature and still it would bring a lot of content to the game.

    Not a bad idea, what do you have in mind to make it harder? Also, I woudl add that the gear be unique and untradeable, and preferably same quality but balanced differently than crafted gear.

    Uhm I guess the same mobs of a 15 ppl behest for a 8 ppl behest would be ok, or maybe something like 4* dunesfolk... just to make the behest last longer and be a bit challenging, right now you can oneshot pretty everything and mages are usually wandering around and casting random cures. I guess it should take around 20 minutes to kill all the regular mobs + 5-10 minutes for the last NM to be at least a bit entertaining.

    The gear doesn't have to be op, just something with unique appearence and name that would be recognizable for belonging to a specifical camp or more generically to a specifical city-state, something like the conquest point's gear we had back in FFXI

    I really like the idea, though if instead of you getting a piece of equipment, I would rather a damaged piece dropped that would require a crafter involved to fix and and restore it to be useful.

    On top of making behests a little harder and more challenging.
    I think there should be some sort of currency you obtain from doing behests that is used to purchase a starter piece of gear at the first camp you would do behest at when starting a new class, then as you rank up and move to new camps you can then upgrade that first piece of gear (using the currency) into something more level appropriate for that camp, and that gear upgrades at each camp all the way up until say the rank 40 camps. Implementing something like that could be kinda cool since a lot of people do behests throughout their grinds to rank 50 in w/e job.

    In referencing currency from Dynamis - and upgrading your weapon to different stages. However this would be perhaps pieces of armor or weapons, and would be able to be upgraded at each camp.
    So you'd essentially have a rank 1 (widget), when you get to rank 10 and accumulate currency from doing behests, at the rank 10 camp you upgrade that rank 1 widget to a rank 10 widget. Your now rank 20 and moving onto the rank 20 camp and use your earned currency to upgrade your widget to rank 20 etc.. etc..

    Just an idea.
    Would be cool to rank up weapons/armor in addition to our different classes.

    i love this idea so much. the only thing i would have to see with that is to be in a behest you would have to be in that level range. i do not want a r50 jumping in on a r20 behest to get the gear and then sell it off. to me if you are in a camp for this you should be required to be in that level range. if you get out of the level range by changing a class during the behest you are automatically removed from the behest.

    if you are in the level camp
    1-4 the starter camps
    5-14 r10 leve camps
    15-24 r20 leve camps
    25-34 r30 leve camps
    35-50(only since we have no higher camps yet) r40 leve camps

    i just wouldn't want to see someone jump on a high class and solo the behest to get the drop and cause issues for the lower people trying to rank up. technically i know you get the next set of leves on the 3's, but i went up 2 more ranks because people are still there at those ranks due to higher sp on more stars.

    Also there will always be this kind of situation for mid ranked gear, I can't figure out a way to prevent it :/
