I'd like to be able to play a kid character

I think FFXIV did a great job of representing young characters. Think of the Conjurer story quest for example: they look like real kids, no adult features that are common in anime kids.

That being said, I'd love to be able to play a scholar or a conjurer kid avatar. I understand playing a kid gladiator would be a bit ridicolous, but for mage roles it looks good.

Been saying they should do this for a long time, but it will never happen because of all the alcohol and sexual references. There are a lot of underage characters in offline Final Fantasies though. I'd actually challenge someone to name more than 5 FF protagonists that were known to be older than 21.

Those 'kids' are padjal iirc and are actually adult.

SE couldn't make kids the main characters without the game's age restrictions changing. Violence towards children is a far more controlled subject.

In the Conjurer story is only 1 kid. The guildmaster is a grandpa who just look like a kid (Padjals and their white hair)

Their age shows in some ways, such as grayed hair or dull skin tones, but they retain their youthful shape until death.

Technically, we should be going by 20 as that's the age of majority in Japan...although you are still correct.

There is no good reason that I can see for SE to spend time and money adding new child playable characters to the game. If you want a child-like looking character pick lalafel. Yes they are not meant to be children, but they share the same qualities of a child without being one, the small stature, high pitched voice if choose it and such. It would not take hardly any head-canon to role play that adult lalafel as a child character, SE do not need to do anything on this issue if it can even be called an issue to begin with.

Luneth is very old actually, since they were stuck in the limit between the flying island and the land flooded under the darkness that stopped time.
