You're both right. SE shoots themselves in the foot and causes the problem by making the housing prices astronomical... but even if they halved the prices, there are still a butt-load of players that are lazy and will buy from the gold-farmers. BUT the gold-farmers are there more because of the need for these huge price tags. Get rid of the need/want and there will be less of them.

Also what was the point of gating the advanced class behind Sylph Management? Any, or did they just decide to do something random?

Probably just another unsuccessful attempt to stop RMT botting, besides the quest required is right after Ifrit at level 20 which you'll want to have done anyway long before you're close to unlocking your job since you need to continue doing the main story quests to unlock several dungeons during those levels such as Toto-Rak, Haukke Manor and Brayflox.

Perhaps doing main quest people will be obligated to do low dungeon. Otherwise, they will go leveling with fate up to lv40-50 without never have learnt to play in group. And I will have to keep resuscitating dps in dungeon that tried to do pull. Or doing auto-heal because tank was unable of keep aggro. Why are they adding even more restrictions to leveling and unlocking the 'fun' ?
Before:
Players must reach level 30 with the job’s associated class.
After:
Players must reach level 30 with the job’s associated class, and have completed the main scenario quest "Sylph-management."
^ slow down bots more than likely
Wait how does being a lv35 GLD versus a Lv35 PLD stop RMT botting? I can't make the connection.
Back when 1st Coil was nerfed, we had the same discussion. They probably monitor the SCoB activity and it's too low (for their liking) and want people to move on to FCoB. Fair enough. The thing I don't get is, a large group will still have issues even with the nerfs. They'll need T9 and echo can only do so much. Let's be positive and expect them to clear T9. They will be stuck again in FCoB.
I do want people to catch up, it just feels like content gets an irrelevant feel to it rather soon. Nerfs just help them to catch up and be in the same position again just a couple of weeks later. In other words, it is of little help. In fact, I think it's the easy way out.
I don't expect them to change things now, but for 3.0 it would be nice if there was a wider variety to endgame raids (no ST facerolls).
I am certain the Sylph thing for Jobs has /something/ to do with the 30-40 R.M.T. black mages I see appearing at Uldah Aeth and going into Duty over and over.
They want to make it harder to get a job, there must be a reason.
An issue wherein the item icon for Heart Snatchers did not match its actual appearance.
An issue wherein the item icon for Canopus Stilettos did not match their actual appearance.
An issue wherein the following item icons did not match their actual appearance:
Gridanian Stilettos / Lominsan Stilettos / Ul’dahn Stilettos
I hope they just matched the right icons and not swapped which one has what weapon model. since i went to all the effort of getting the Canopus stilettos, found out they were the wrong thing and then went to get heartsnatchers, glamoured them, and traded in the canopus stilettos for seals.
None of the icons are different on lodestone yet, so i'm somewhat worried.
