Better to think of it that a WHM fills the HP bars back up whilst a SCH tries to prevent them going down in the first place.

In actual gameplay terms, SCH is a high activity job with an emphasis on maximising cooldown usage and making the most out of those aetherflow charges. WHM is slower paced and more methodical, the mark of a top flight WHM is knowing when NOT to cast (or interrupt oneself), both jobs absolutely have to learn how to preempt and precast to do well in the end game though.

I prefer WHM but I do have a lvl 38 SCH as well, I enjoy it too. As a previous poster had said it really helps to level both, even though you will have a preference of one over the other, it's nice to see what the other is capable of so you know how to play with said class in an 8-man. I keep active with WHM though, when I am not healing I am DPSing where I can (if my party is struggling I'll do this less). I also move around constantly, I am coming from Monk main, so I just can't stand there.

Someone previously said that WHM has a reactive playstyle, while this CAN be true, a WHM that takes a proactive stance as well IMO is even better. I love SS, and we get a buff to it. I will use it as a SCH uses Adlo and Succor BEFORE big attacks in battle. I'll only cast this though when the other party members are not threatened and not in need of healz. I make use of Swiftcast ALOT, that mess is always on cooldown. Hands down this ability is a game changer once you get it. Swiftcast+SS on a speedrunning tank is priceless.

Now when I look in the shout chats, people are all only looking for White Mages for t9/t7 whatever that is.

I'm just looking to play something that'll get me in raid groups.
Any1 ONLY looking for 2 whm is an idiot. I like to have both.

I'm the opposite. I played back at launch (the second one) on PC with a scholar. I quit until recently coming back on the PS4 version and now I play a white mage. I'm actually liking the white mage better so far. Plus I don't know how I'd even try to control the scholar pet without my MMO mouse and Nostromo.
