Kaeko put it best. In order to have any kind of confidence in stating one is better than the other unequivocally, you need a huge sample size. For now I think it's safe to say that it's close enough to the point where waiting until 1.19 for further testing is completely fine.

Based on the data there my conclusion would be:

If you get a Verdant Shortbow and do not own a Crab Bow +3, then there is little point in spending any resources in obtaining one.

If you own a Crab Bow +3, there is no big reason to look forward to getting the Verdant Shortbow.

Both bows are essentially identical in a DPS sense - any differences that exist are not substantial.

Randomized data such as that can be excluded. Evades, misses and crits can swing both ways between the two weapons.

I don't see it as being randomized. The two weapons are behaving exactly how their stats intend them to behave. The only thing that can obscure their true performance, is a small sample size.

There are too many things an archer does imbetween shots to fully take advantage of a lower delay bow. I use a Crab Bow and still clip the Light Shot cooldown with my actions.

The crit rate of both bows is roughly the same, not enough to see a huge difference, and if the ligh shot damage balances out, then the crit rate will balance out as well, if the crit damage is +% then both bows will average out over time, and thus render crit damage null and void in final calculations.
Now, as for weapon skills, if tp is based stictly on damage and not affected in the slightest by number of attacks, then WS also become null and void, because the overall damage output also becomes equalized.
Then we have misses and evades, if both bows have the same accuracy, then they should both miss the same amount %, and thus render this data also obsolete for a final concussion.

The bigger factor is when we add, the more attack and accuracy that we add, actually improves the verdant bows performance more than the crab bow's, because as we increase these values, the % difference in attack becomes less.
In 1.19 we may see the verdant bow make a significant leap forward in the damage game, due to stats playing a bigger role.

So as it stands, single attack damage (including multishots) the crab bow clearly wins.
Over multiple shots and possibly the rate of weapon skills, the verdant bow wins.
In conclusion, what everyone has been saying, they are too close for a winner, only play style will affect the outcome.

Feels like this to me too....

Whether future changes to attribute effects...etc...change the playing field....well, we'll have to wait and see.
