The 18 hour ventures is just something to send your retainers on when one is asleep and/or at work, and also it offers a chance a finding something a little more rare. Sure, it would be nice to get special, super rare items more often, but then they wouldn't exactly be special anymore, would they? It'd be all, "oh look, my 4th fat cat/mine cart/littlefoot this week. Since the board is flooded with em, and all my firends have one, i might as well sell it to the vendor."

I will say that the 15 18 hour ventures challenge log entry is excessive, though. If anything, the two should be switched, with it only requiring you to do 10 18 hour ventures a week and 15 total ventures. My two cents.

If anything, it should be more accommodating to the eight hour sleep cycle rather than adding in the additional eight hour work day. Four hours on top of the eight hour sleep cycle (granting 12 total hours for a retainer to go on a regular exploration venture) would be a good compromise as that would allow for two hours to take care of nightly rituals and two hours to take care of morning rituals.

I also 100% agree with your second point about 10 long ventures and 15 total ventures. That makes a fair bit more sense, as traditionally, in video games, a very specific objective set has a smaller number of objectives than a more generic objective set would, especially if the specific objective set contributes to the generic objective set. If you need to collect 50 fruit in, say... Pac-Man, don't make an additional objective be "Collect 75 Cherries". It creates a sense of tedium in players.
