I imagine it will be outrageous, but I do hope they go with the 'tons of fairly normal mats' option instead of 'tons of expensive and heavily restricted mats' option. I guess it depends on what you can do with it. Somewhat paradoxically my instinct as it pertains to SE is that the more useful it is to have an airship the easier and more cost effective it will be. The less useful it is to have an airship the more ridiculous and expensive it will be. I imagine that at minimal use (grants no advantage and other players can't even be made aware that you have one) it burns 1 tier IV materia per second as fuel.

Like all things on Eozea, I know it going to cost me arm and a leg. "Believe It" But what I wis ho avoid is custom built Airs Ships for the sol sack of having to have mad 3 sizes, 20+ floor patterns, and 100+ nicknacks to trick out my AS.

If there is, after the ludicrous price is announced on the airship patch... we'll get a post explaining how Yoshi just had to calm people down in the letter and the price is somehow cheap because of inflation.

I could have sworn i heard/saw mention that the Personal Airship will be introduced to players via quests pretty early on.

I can't imagine they'd tout airships as a major feature of the expansion and then lock away the ability to access one behind a massive paywall (especially if the Airship is required for story purposes).

For housing, i can understand why they don't want everyone and their mother to have one, as it takes a fair chunk of server resources to have them.
An AirShip would not require that kind of server space. So its my hope at least, that we get a Personal Airship easily, then we have the option from there to spend large quantities of Gil/Crafting Materials on making that Airship bigger or more fancy.

They did also mention that FCs will have the option to build an Airship for the FCs use. That might be where the Airships start to cost players.

If you have a lot of master crafters and master gathereres in your FC and own a garden, maybe 4m for mats that can't be gathered or planted to craft an airship
