I think it all depends on your job for SMN I have heard the doublet and pants are good. I am not sure on the other jobs but this site can help you make your decision

Some people like to go for the cheapest upgrades first while others save for the upgrades that provide the biggest stat boost first. Accessories are the cheapest, but body armour (closely followed by leg armour) provides a bigger stat boost. I went with body first, then legs, then the rest of the left-side armour slots, then accessories. However, if you're reaching (or nearing) max level in multiple jobs that rely on similar stats, accessories also have the advantage of being usable by multiple jobs.
(Of course, in any job, your weapon is the biggest stat-booster of all, since it controls the all-important damage stat, but there's multiple upgrade paths there. I'm assuming relic upgrades for the weapon and putting Tomestones towards armour.)

Partly it depends on what you've got right now, especially with soldiery (since it's not capped). For poetics, I'd go with whatever piece was the best for your class in absolute terms. Then go for the biggest upgrade compared to your current gear with soldiery (e.g., replace an i49 ring before replacing i70 boots, even if i100 boots offer more overall stats than an i100 ring). The higher you get your average iLvl, the easier it gets to farm soldiery.
If your play time isn't going to let you farm soldiery at a decent clip (e.g., you just have time to cap poetry each week and no additional soldiery past that), you might consider doing that with poetry, too, just to get your iLvl as high as you can.
10 posts per page is only the default setting; it is bad, and you should feel bad if you haven't changed it.

I'd suggest you to buy those accessories to boost up your ilv without spending much on tomes
since you just reached 50 (from what I saw recently on forum)
so if your ilv is high enough, you'll start to earn those tomes easier and you can just farm clothes from Syrcus tower
If you just hit 50, I'd concentrate firstly on capping poetics, secondly on running ST as much as possible, and really nevermind soldiery gains -- you'll want to get to at least 1300 to buy Rowena's tickets. Combine those with an unidentified allagan tomestone, which should be pretty simple to get from ST and you've already got a good weapon. Make sure you also have a sands of time available to use on said weapon. With luck you'll have at least i100 on the left side from ST, so I'd actually suggest buying a ring with poetics. After that I'd fill in the left side, but that's me. After buying your soldiery weapon, gradually upgrade your accessories to soldiery and upgrade them with oils of time. After that swap out left side ST items for soldiery items and upgrade them with sands of time, or buy poetics items for the left side.
EDIT: Sorry if this incorrectly assumes you can get into Syrcus Tower. If not, aim for that. Obviously any drops that are upgrades should be worn and upgrading accessories is the fastest way to increase your ilvl.

I guess something to add on about armor. Is there any difference from the armor you get from Wolf Marks from pvp? Like is this a viable set of armor to use for pve or can it only be used in pvp?
Thanks to the 2.4 changes, it actually is pretty viable. Even before then it was only a substat short (effectively it was a few item levels below what was displayed).
Awesome. So it wouldn't be a bad investment then? or is there something else better to spend the wolf marks on?
If you're to level up desyn skills, it's pretty useful to purchase ilv70/80 for grinding, and ilv100 class pvp gears looks awesome.
