Why can't we have elegant looking blades like that at endgame? Instead we have the Curtana(s), Burtgang, the Allagan blades, and super-sci-fi blade.

I actually Like Super Sci-Fi blade. But to answer your question, I assume it's because SE likes things over-the-top, almost like they're addicted to the Rule of Cool. That and them competing with other franchises that are similar addicted to making stuff look cool.

It would be nice if they added a few elegant blades wouldn't it? With Burtang out I sometimes feel like I'm already playing Dark Knight

Dunno what you are seeing but level one weapons are far from elegant, in fact they look like cheap toys without any notable design.

I'm not sure why you think something looks like a level one weapon if it's not shining enough to burn out your retinas, or doesn't have a completely ridiculous design. The swords in that picture have simple, effective designs, and yet they still look ornate, magical, and unique.

I am referring to XI's relic weapons. The Monk weapon in particular are extremely basic in design which is the basis of low level weapons. Also no it doesn't, it looks like a realistic weapon, not a magical or unique design.
