Why can't SE have style AND substance?

I'm going to start off by asking what the point of the armoire item is. It resets SB on unique items but also removes the binding status? Uh, why? If these items are untradable to boot then what is the point of removing SB and bonding? It seems like someone sneezed at the round table and lost all train of thought when discussing the concept of, I dunno, a feature that allows you to transfer items between your own characters? Whats going on with that? Why are you all putting things in your game that offer questionable, if not pointless features? Enough half stepping already. This game has potential but I'm starting to see a pattern that worries me.

Secondly, I have a few comments about the cross class system. Its a pretty good idea to allow us to have all classes on one character. I don't mind being able to toss on a bunch of different hats and make like Kirby. I like being able to pull skills from one class into the next too. Its neat. No one else really does it. But here's what gets me, SE. I feel like you all may have relied too heavily on this system just to keep players busy, so to speak. I see it as a major chink in the foundation of any cross class concept when you have a class (any class) that is fundamentally incomplete all on its own. I say this because during high level play, you WILL suffer for not having some of these skills unlocked. At that point it feels more like a chore and a responsibility than a choice on how you play.

For instance, I play Ninja. I like Ninja. I don't like LNC. I will never like LNC. But you know what? I'd damn well better have Blood for Blood and invigorate for that substantial dps boost and the ability to better sustain TP in those longer lasting fights. It seems to have come down to fostering a mentality that players who have these abilities unlocked are more skilled than others...rather than more tenacious...a juvenile mindset that no doubt stems from a primitive, elitist psychology but-er-uh, anyway...It seems to me that any class that requires the use of TP would have some way to better sustain than forcing a dps drop. The BLM restores its own mp in a very creative way, good job SE. BLM is a very self sustainable class. Why should LNC be the only one with that ability for TP? You have ideas here, but for some reason, you all seem afraid to capitalize.

The way I look at it may be shortsighted, but I see something like this as a lack of creativity. A sort of lazy way to give players incentive to want to play all these classes when most players really have only a favorite one or two. If you all can't give every class everything it needs to optimize its potential without pulling things from other classes, your concept is fundamentally weak. Shameful with an entire round table of brains and ideas. Cross class skills should not be the standard, they should be a substantial overdrive. Mastering one class should be good. Mastering two should double your efficiency. Mastering three should triple it. This would not be difficult to do. It would not "break the game" It is acceptable to be powerful when you...well, spend hours upon hours leveling up for the express purpose of...of being powerful.

On that note, how about them crafters SE? What was the plan with that? I don't quite see why you all decided to implement cross classing with crafters. Fisher doesn't cross class because it doesn't need to. Very few, if any at all, crafting classes need to cross class. I should not need to be a timber master in order to make the best woolen shirts Eorzea has ever seen. You should indeed be able to unlock and master all crafting classes if you choose to. But every crafter should be able to 4 star in their own field without a single skill from another crafting class. There would be more substance to the classes, just as much busy work, and would still make room for more specialized content respectively. As an automotive technician, I highly doubt that a master chef could pass down his cooking skill to me so I can install a fuel tank with higher efficiency. I'd laugh at him and tell him to get the hell out of my garage, he's a distraction. Key word, a distraction.

But I guess those would be your limitations when building something based around random number generators as opposed to a skill based concept. Let it be known that I'm not trying to put the game down SE, it deserves what accolades it gets. This is the only game I really play now. I like it. A lot. This is why I can be critical of it because I want you all as a company (one of my favorite companies) to succeed and take a unique game like this as far as it can go and have it age as well as it possibly can.

I know that profit is important, but remember, if you give the fans what they want and need, they will pay your way. However, many can agree that you all will not be able to do this if you cannot take criticism and listen to your fans about the small things that matter more than you all seem to think. Like not being able to speak to NPC's while mounted, or having furnishing items like lockers that don't do anything but stand there. You need more substantial features SE, and you can implement them practically everywhere, creating both style and substance. Literally the best of both worlds. It is not impossible. It is not difficult. It is not too much to expect. Hire me on as your idea engine, Yoshi P. I can save you. (I-I'm kidding guys. Chill out. Please, leave your torches and pitch-a-bitch forks at T9 and TEX.)
