Trollmageddon 2011?? Only active players allowed to post after Aug 17!

Maybe it's designed to prevent trolls, maybe it's not, but I would hope that Square is not trying to hide criticisms of the game. They need to listen to the player bases that were unhappy with this game; but there are plenty of people, like me, who have trudged along in the game while being simultaneously unhappy; others are clouded with delusions about how this game is great as is.

I'm not sure what the right path here is, but I personally don't think trolling is too bad on the forums as it is. I mostly see valid criticisms.

Seems that it would be a bit of a stupid block if people could just login once per 30 day cycle to continue trolling.

Would make sense if the payment was also the limitation. Begin your conspiracy theorising!

The most cynic players play the most. They are unable to act rationally, their hatred so deep yet they can't quit either. Somehow, they've become addicted of this crappy game in it's crappy state. That takes some skill.

Not really. It's currently free to play after you got the box so it's cheaper than most MMOs out there.

To all the people saying that trolls won't have any problem logging in once every 30 days, don't forget when the game eventually goes P2P they won't be logging in anymore unless they're that bored and wanting to burn their $13 a month just to abuse forum posting.

Anyone think it should go another step further and not even allow forum view access unless we have a working account? I mean some people could take our posts and start up crap on other forums. I know of a site or two that started this before and started laughing.

Well I was under the impressions that most trolls actually play the game a lot but just like to point out the negatives and stir poop, not sure how these measures will prevent trolling, even when the game goes p2p.

This move is not meant for "Trolls" at all.

This is mainly a forum to give feedback to the Dev Team, meaning, to give feedback you at least need to try out the features first. Someone who does not log in and test the content is not fit to provide feedback at all.

Im sure the above is the true purpose for this, regardless of what "troll" would or would not do to post.

How many times have we seen some idiot giving feed back based on the status of the game last September? Or when ever it was that they quit. a wall of text about the evils of random sp gain during fights is going to do bugger all about any thing at this point.

The hope is that the extra effort required to keep an active forum account will deter trolls from posting on the forum.

I don't think this will work.

It will when then game is no longer F2P to some extent but I think it's more about getting feedback from people who play the game instead of the people who haven't played the current content .

Considering the game is f2p i have no idea why no one on these forums wouldn't already have an active account. Who posts on official game forums when the game is free and doesn't log on atleast 1 second in every 30 days?
