I have heard several complains on here from people who have admitted to playing the game only for like a few days.. or not at all! yet they are still on here complaining about something that they know nothing about, which makes absolutely no sense at all...
and then there are those people who complain just as bad yet have like 3 jobs level 50 so you know they love the game and play it religiously.... so OP is correct about that..
I played the game from beta 2 until December. It was only until after playing it for that long did I decide that the game was truly awful in the state it's in.I have heard several complains on here from people who have admitted to playing the game only for like a few days.. or not at all! yet they are still on here complaining about something that they know nothing about, which makes absolutely no sense at all...

i have to partially disagree with you. Currently, changes are being planned and made to the game to not only please the current playerbase, but to also attract new players and people who have quit. This may sound a little harsh, and I mean no scrutiny towards anyone, but the people with 50s, or who have been and are currently playing the game have shown 1 thing above all else. They are willing to play the game reguardless of what the majority says about it. Good or bad, they will play. So in all honesty, shoudn't SE be listening to people who quit the game, or aren't even willing to try it, just as much, if not more than people who are already playing it daily?I have heard several complains on here from people who have admitted to playing the game only for like a few days.. or not at all! yet they are still on here complaining about something that they know nothing about, which makes absolutely no sense at all...

I currently play off and on. I can get into it for a week or 2, and then lose interest. come back a month later. I may not have as much experience as those playing daily, but from reading posts on fansites, and then here, I constantly get the feeling that people who are playing are disagreeing the most with changes that are suggested. I may be wrong in saying this, and if I am by all means correct me. But currently the game is not "succeeding". By that I mean it needs more players. To bring more players, obviously changes are going to have to be made, maybe even large changes, and maybe even large changes some of the people playing now don't like.
Another thing I see often is posts wanting changes to make the game more like xi. Don't get me wrong, I played XI daily for about 6 years. To date it is still my favorite online game, and I played wow for about 3 years daily also. In my opinion the community made XI a great game, the game itself was horrible. The ui, controls, very little customization. I would have to say the opposite of wow. The game is very well designed. The UI, combat and targeting options and customization are all very well done. But the community was horrible.
My point is in my opinion the good thing about XI was the people, not aspects of the game itself (there were a few things I liked about xi, I"m not saying all are bad). But I personally don't want an XI-2. I want a modern mmo with the "magic" SE can create that all of us fans have at one point felt. (The story and missions of COP for example).
Ironically, if this game WAS built to be just like FFXI as so many people wanted, but cut as many corners as it did, it would STILL have been a much worse game than XI is, and let's face it, most people aren't particularly big fans of that game either.
It doesn't need XI's ideas to be good, it needs strong direction and it's own modern content. It has the technological capability to do far more than FFXI, so please stop trying to limit it's potential.
Not really, I play the game because i think it has a lot of potential with the right adgjustments.i have to partially disagree with you. If they implement an auto attack feature, if they get rid of the stamina gauge, if they make this game a FFXI-2 I honestly don't know if I'll still be playing.
Don't get the actual player base for granted, I know we are the minority, but we are the ones who tested this game, if the majority of those asking for an auto attack feature (for example, I don't want this thread to become another auto attack discussion) are really low ranked and almost all of all the r50 are against it there has to be a reason...
I'm not saying everything r50s say is right and everything nwebies say is crap, but if we say "if you try out this you might find out it's not that bad and it can be improved instead of scrapped" we deserve a little trust.
The reason seems to be: The majority of the people who are rank 50 enjoy the game in its current state and don't want to see drastic changes while the majority of players in general who DO want to see drastic changes are simply not willing to put up with the game's shortcomings long enough to get that far. I'm not bashing people for enjoying the game as it is, but your opinion does not carry more weight because you reached the max level which does not really offer much that isn't available to lower level players besides a handful of NMs.Not really, I play the game because i think it has a lot of potential with the right adgjustments.

You don't need contents to test the game, in my ls we spent a lot of time testing BR, we found out how it works (trust me, a few people know how to make it work properly) and now we agree it's not perfect but it has potential and if improved it can be great; our mages have spent a lot of time testing AM, they did everything possible and they found out it's totally broken and needs to be changed.
Can someone that played for one week before all of the updates come to the same conclusions?
