How? 1. Wiki is NEVER a source to look into when debating. With games like FFIV, FFXI, Tatics and Ogre (2 titles that Yoshi-P mentioned as the inspiration for DRK). 2. They got high hp and def stats. 3. Bard? Just go with DRG.Originally Posted by abaga
wrong weare talking about dark knight and yes dark knight has a wiki and summoner never was talked about in the above
How does the name give the impression that its a DPS? And they have not ALWAYS been DPS.Originally Posted by tyrantdragon

Overall, this wish on making DRK be the class "everyone" wants to play is contradicting itself. People played DRK outside of DD. Its a great addition to tanks so we can see how the devs will implement it. Especially when Yoshida stated in a previous interview that they dont want this game close to FFXI, which means different or opposite ideas are going to be made.
Put DRK away from DD now, there the opposite of PLD's for a reason. To be two sides of the same coin.

At Least it is True

Dark Knight has High HP and High physical stats which makes it a closer to a WoW Death Knight in MMORPG's.
well all all going to say is dark knight has always been dps even according to enix them self's but that don't matter as paying customer when you sell stuff the customer is always right 2 there are tweets where so many people would lose interest in the game because they are used to it as dps so why change it up and upset customers when they leave with there money and that's the point
^ This.
I don't see the point of throwing this comment out the door or calling it "wrong" as it can be applied to the current situation about the Dark Knight. When summoner came out in 2.0, people did not like how it would only summons egis instead of the primals themselves. If you look a little way down this very same forum section, there are still comments about how summoners work even after a year of release. Meanwhile, Dark Knight is yet to be released and all people talk about is how it is categorized as "tank".
Also, if DRK was released as DPS, this forum would probably be full once again of complaints about the DPS queue (as what happened with summoner and ninja release).
Don't know how to tank? Tell your party that you can't tank and ask for help from them. OR queue with friends/party finder people/fellow newbies. That's what a bunch of people from my LS did, they made rogues parties or 3-rogue + 1 healer because of the DPS queue and because they were still learning how2rogue.
You can't really say that Dark Knight has "always been a DPS" because prior to XI and XIV, jobs weren't classified that way. A majority of jobs in FF history have been damage-dealing with some sort of specialty. XIV needs to be flexible on adapting well-known jobs in order to include them, otherwise everything will be a DPS.
As for their signature move, Darkness, that can still be adapted as an AoE attack with massive hate. And there are still ways for them to sacrifice health to gain other buffs or to debuff the boss. Dark Knight can be a tank while holding to true to its style.
If you look at it this way, Paladin is also a Tank class.
If we examine Final Fantasy IV, Cecil went from being a Dark Knight to a Paladin, and much of the time was spent being the party member that absorbed the damage from the enemy the best, thus making him the Tank of the party (Besides Kain, and Yang). This being the case, it makes sense that Dark Knight would be a Tank class.
I'm all for it.![]()
I think that SE thinks about TANK a sort of meat shield. I mean in other games concepts the tank is the defensive one oriented with shields high def etc. But here in ffxiv its not like this as u can all see. The Warrior its in fact a dps but with a high capacity to absorb dmg. His skills are all offensive with high dmg output Too. So the thing is that For SE the tank its a sort of damage absorbing Class but not a defensive only oriented. So i think its a very Great idea to put dark Knight as a tank.
