    Is crafting really worth it?

I'm starting to loose my motivation the only supra I have is the culinarian's tool.
I already got my recipes cept for those recipe books II that you need 3hq of. Coming up with matercraft demateria is really time consuming, it gives me 1 materia every 10 specs I get.

I think reason why I wanted to do a crafter is to gain gil and I may have found many ways to mkae gil, should i stop crafting or just keep going no matter how long it takes? Do you crafters keep going?

I am going to keep telling people this till i die ...

YOU DO NOT NEED A SUPRA TO CRAFT ANYTHING!

Is extra craftsmanship and control useful? Always. Is it worth the cost? Not really.

Supra gives you a whopping 5 extra Control and 10 craftsmanship over your Artisan main hand, neither of which will give you a huge advantage for 3 or 4 star crafts.

although the craftsmanship may not seem to help much by itself but with the new off hand and max melds you notice the difference.

as for control the more you have the easier to hq things so yeah even a 5 point increase is worth having even if it seems negligible.

but yeah technically you don't need supra at this current stage in crafting but since field 3's are so easy / cheap to get you may as well be using it.

as for is crafting worth it,

I deemed 3* to not be worth the hassle for the reward, yes you can make millions of gil from 3* but the time it takes to craft up the mats then the goods whilst needing food in general wasn't worth it to me.

with 4* and the rng mats that's needed and crazy high prices for them which given time will change but not as quick as we would like make the final product cost to much for the majority of the player base to afford.

plus anyway if we charge 4mil for that item which may seem fair to what we pay out in mats ultimately means the battle / gatherer classes will charge higher amounts still to recover what they spend to get those goods. <<vicious circle..

but that's economics for you, supply and demand ad all that good stuff.

basically is crafting worth it.?? not really given the time it takes especially since all you really get is a bigger gil jackpot.

but if you look at it this way, that gil will allow you to advance in ways in the game that take a lot of time in of itself like buying and decorating your own house, getting new weapons and gear for alt classes whilst you wait for another week of poetics to go buy to get closer to that gear. raising other crafting classes quicker buy using hq items for leve turn ins. getting your chocobo to rank 20 by buying thav onions instead of growing them, getting new barding for said chocobo, plus loads more things im forgetting im sure.

not to mention once gold saucer turns up you'll need that gil there too in all likelihood

Correction: It technically "gives you" extra CP since you can use CP food instead of craftsmanship/CP food. Supra lets you hit the craftsmanship requirement without food.

However: I've NQ'd more 4-star stuff on my "supra crafters" than my "non-supra crafters." Why? RNG. That extra 26 or whatever CP you can get (craft/cp food vs cp food) doesn't buy you that much. 1 SH2? It's something. However, in the grand scheme of things, most 4-star recipes boil down to a combination of CP replenishment through ToT, not failing too much on HT/RS and a good/excellent on BB especially if you had too many failures on earlier on.

I will say that I altered my rotation a bit when using craft/cp food, and found that my HQ chance is far higher due to THAT change than anything else. The extra CP is nice, but I wouldn't say it is a requirement to do 4-star.

Supra's are worth it for any serious crafter.

I agree with everything you say. BUT bare in mind that you also have to penta meld your off hand to meet the cap AND you only save that CP IF your rotation with the Supra is 5 progress steps or less.

craftsmanship/CP gives SO much craftsmanship that even without a Supra or FC buffs it pushes you into an easy 5 step finish easy.

At the end of the day, it all depends on your situation. Do you have easy access to FC buffs? Do you have perfect melds on ALL your current gear? Maybe you already have Artisan Leg and Feet.

There are a large number of ways we can now reach the required stats, but do you HAVE to have it? No. Is it better to have it? If you can afford it sure!

I'd personally say crafting won't hit a boom til 2.5 and it comes down purely to how FC crafting will be implemented. I believe it was either at the vegas or europe fan fest but they did note how you would be able to make a core necessary for group synthing and I imagine that will be anything but easy to achieve unless you are using top tier gear or get really lucky lol.

This might be a bit off topic but I have never bought a crafted high level gear since day one. May I ask , what is the point apart from a waste of big chunks money? Don't get me wrong gear looks great but it is really worth it when I can get a a higher lvl gear from poetics? ( in the case of crafted 110 against 120/130 ) I find it more of a waste of time and money unless someone can tell me the otherwise. Is 110 better than 120 or 130?
