    need help with controller issue

I use a controller to play the game. Ever since the launch of ver 2.0 I have been experiencing an issue where the controller will runaway from me. If I am running along and release the left analog stick my character continues to run until enter another input. I can be watching my character from the back while moving when all of a sudden the camera angle ride up to an overhead view. Needless to say this can be disconcerting especially if it happens in a boss fight. I am using a XBOX 360 wireless controller with the latest updates. I reported this problem through technical support forum but was ignored by SE (others reported the same problem). As I cannot expect help from SE I am asking people here if they have had this issue and what they did to correct it. Thank You.

You're pressing the auto run button. Default is the left bumper (L1 on the PS controllers).

You're either hitting the left bumper while running to toggle auto run on or your xbox 360 controller's analog stick is going bad and frequently triggers outside of the dead zone. I've chucked many 360 controllers with this issue in the past.

    Not even remotely helpful.

Thank you for the responses. I forgot to mention that I have the Auto Run feature turned off through the System configuration. I will try another controller though I have absolutely no problems with any other game I play and have had this problem with multiple controllers, all of the Xbox variety i will admit.

I've had a controller problem since back in beta like this that hasn't been fixed. I've had it with a PS2 controller (with USB adapter) and with a Logitech F710 on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. It only happens once each time I start up the game, but usually within 15 to 30 minutes of starting, I'll have a period of 20 seconds or so where the controller quits responding. So if I wasn't doing anything when it happened, I just have to wait until it starts reading input again. But if I happened to be running or moving the camera, that action will continue as if I were still holding the button down.

My old Coil group thought I was trolling them when we would get in T4 or T5 and I would start running uncontrollably, but luckily it's never made me run off the side on Titan or anything. I just make sure not to sign up for dungeon runs for the first few minutes after logging in and that's worked for me (not a perfect solution, I know...). For what it's worth, I use Xbox drivers.

Sorry, I don't know about the random running other than maybe your analog stick controlling it is getting stuck?
I have a different problem since early build in the game onward as well. When I'm casting spells on a mob, the cursor randomly switches targets from the mob back unto myself. I'm not pressing the dpad or anything that would normally change target focus, I'm usually just spamming the x button and nothing else when it happens. It's happened across multiple brands of controllers and drivers so either I'm somehow doing something wrong (most likely) or the game has a strange quirk to it (maybe?).
Anyone else have this problem or have a helpful suggestion? I'm not a gamer please don't suggest pc controls I do not understand how to use them.

This happens to me on controller sometimes, but only when I'm typing and enter a message while standing still. I have to hit the direction I am running in, on the keyboard, in order to toggle that off. I'm not even sure WHY it does it, but at least I discovered the fix. It means I can't be facing bosses on the pull in a dungeon or trial anymore or while typing there's a risk I will face-pull it >.>.

Some gamepads (like the 360 controller) just have a super sensitive neutral position that sometimes registers as slightly off-center. Go into your gamepad settings under the system settings of FF14 and change the analog stick sensitivity. Several of my friends and I have it set to 50 and have not had any issues since.
