    Advice for a fresh 50

This probably could have gone in the GD thread, but I feel it would be more beneficial here.

Hey guys, I just hit 50 for the first time a couple days ago. My question is, in this post-2.4 era of XIV, what would be the best route to take to gear up?

Any other advice you could give to a fresh 50 would also be appreciated. Quests one shouldn't skip, etc, etc.

    Thanks for your time.

Learn to play ur job decently and try avoiding jumping into 2.4ish dungeons/ endgame stuff right away.
In the 2.4 era a lot of ppl have gone insane with gear ( i blame hunts) and expectations of knowing the dungeons, fight and mechanics( coil perfect raid static stuff )
Trust me this is 2.4 we r talking about and not the good ol' 2.0 days where u run amdapor keep till ur eyes rot and a little bit of wanderers palace here and there.
Ppl's patience have dropped so expect to get trash talked a lot due to u being a fresh 50 tank.

Probs start with dungeon unlocking then some CT/ST then eventually try coil and EX primals as it'll help prepare ur mind for the endless gear treadmill SE has to offer with these endgame raids.

for gearing up, you'll need to do a couple of things but do keep in mind that you'll only be able to join most people once your ilv is around 70-80+
I'm not sure about Labyrinth of the Ancients (a.k.a. Crystal Tower) since I'm not sure how many people will be farming it but the good thing is Crystal Tower will give you ilv80 equipment along with 100ToS and 10 ToP, and no ilv required to join in
anyway, you'll need to follow the questline to unlock Syrcus Tower which will give you ilv100 equipments
go to Mor Dhona and do "Legacy of Allag" quest and follow it until you unlock Labyrinth of the Ancients, farm it if possible, then do the quest some more and unlock Syrcus... this is the fastest way to gear up without grinding much
or you can try gearing up by other way, like hunting

lemme quote myself from another thread

    Allied Seals
find a couple LS and go with them, also do daily and weekly hunting bills since it also give you seals.
if you consider using allied seals to gear up your character, put accessories on since they cost less than clothes
once you hit ilv80, you can farm TOS by running dungeons over and over.

as for allagan tome of Sol and Poe
since you just got to 50 and yet to finish MQ, I'd suggest you do the following
    Dungeon: Sastasha (Hard)
    Quest: It's Definitely Pirates
    Location : Mor Dhona (X:22 Y:8)
    NPC: Bloezoeng
Requirement: "The Ultima Weapon" main quest
    and
Dungeon: The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard)
    Quest: The Wrath of Qarn
    Location: Mor Dhona (X:22 Y:8)
    NPC: Hugubert
Requirement: "The Ultima Weapon" main quest and completed "The Sunken Temple of Qarn"

These 2 Dungeons will give you 40 Tome of Poe alongs with 50 Tome of Sol
but ilv requirement is 80, so if you haven't geared up properly, I'd suggest you go do some "hunting", since you can exchange ilv100 gears from Allied seals as well.

I wrote this up specifically for people in your situation, as a primer to what's what and what's out there and what it rewards.
