I have a character on cactuar that I want to transfer to balmung, can I do it?

I have other characters on other servers that give me the option to, but I cant transfer from cactuar to balmung. Anybody know why? I wanna join the RP server

Balmung is often locked due to its very high population. Similarly to creating a new character, you'll need to wait until the server opens to transfer to it (and you can't have any characters, even level 1 alts, there already).

In my experience it usually opens early morning, say around 7AM PST.

Its weird, when I go to the server destination/origin screen. I can set balmung as my destination, but the origin server wont show my character on cactuar. It shows my other characters on other servers, but not cactuar.

Are you in an FC, or do you have a house, or anything that might lock your character? (Have to meet certain preconditions before you can transfer. Probably you're in an FC and that's blocking you but it could be other things)

Edit: Also, beware that there are rather low gil restrictions on server transfers that apply to both your character and retainers. The usual way to get around this is to buy a bunch of something, then sell it on the destination server. Could be anything from materia to allagan pieces to you name it. If you do market research in advance, you can potentially make money as part of this.
