Slow by random world mobs need to go

I hate it when some random archer dude shoots you as you quietly minding your business strolling away on your pimped out bird, then you are slow for 30 seconds, then after 20 seconds, a mage dude cast thunder, and you are slowed for another 30 seconds. Not even resistance? Really?

I understand the tactical purpose of this feature in PvP, and in dungeons/boss fights. but in general world PvE, the only thing this feature accomplishes is irritation. It's NEVER killed me, but it did make me miss Gold on some FATE event, or the infamous A/S rank hunts.

Please remove Slow from PvE random world mobs.

It is annoying. I usually switch to my PLD when I'm running about on my chicken, most mobs leave me alone unless in Mor Dhona then its that Nix with its tongue.

I have to agree, when I was first new to the game I ran around on my chocobo at about level 20 just to open all the maps in la noscea for fun. Got slowed, never killed... so if the idea was to kill lower level players and stop them going to higher level areas, it doesn't work. It's also just stupid annoying... If for some reason they did want to keep it, I'd suggest as soon as your average ilvl is 10 levels higher than mobs they should ignore you too, just like with levels.

Right? And lets mention the fact that it is not even consistent. Why does every random attack inflict heavy? Thunder inflicts heavy, fireballs inflict heavy. Ant bites inflict heavy. Water squirts from the stupid sahagin inflict heavy. Random ass arrows that are as standard as standard comes, inflicts heavy. There is no reason for this to exist. Its not a good idea, its not a good enemy tactic, especially when you're already in his face beating his ass. Therefore it has no place and is just some screw up at the round table. Please abolish this rapidly occurring annoyance asap, SE. If something doesn't have a reason to be in the game, please don't leave it in.

Good heavens. Your descriptions made me LOL.

@Enkidoh: Understandable (regarding the difficulty). I did not notice massive amounts of Heavy when I was low-level though, and even now when I'm leveling up my rogue I barely get heavied. I do get heavy in the Sylphlands and Zahar'ak though... repeatedly. Especially by archers which are many item levels below my own. It's more an annoyance than difficulty, but I understand the idea behind it.

The irony is it's a holdover from version 1.0 where there was a similar effect called 'Lamed' which affected the mount you were riding and not the player's character - it literally meant the mount was injured and thus couldn't run anymore.

Presumably the reason for the change is in 1.0 there was only chocobos and the gobbuue, both of which have legs and thus 'lamed' makes sense. However in ARR with the massive increase in variety of different mounts, some of which don't even have legs (like the ahriman and bomb palanquin), this no longer fits.

So SE I guess decided to make it that the player is hit with a heavy effect instead, which I assume is to make it more difficult for players to rush through end game open areas and thus give some semblance of difficulty to the game.

Indubitably. There's irony there too, however. Some places just shouldn't even be difficult by the time you reach a certain item level. If they always remained somewhat difficult, or even in this case, insanely annoying, then the purpose of powering up your character would be utterly pointless as there'd be no clear benefits of putting forth so much effort to become powerful in the first place.
