Don't tell me they earned it legitly.
There's ample of opportunity outside of crafting and gathering to earn gil and get rich fast in this game. Spiritbonding for starters can make you multiple millions per week with relative ease. Selling T9 runs may make you up to around 3 million per run. And since the introduction of 2.4 some players have made well over 20 million gil per person by selling T9 runs.

Ventures are an easy way to make supplemental gil while doing other things. I hate mining for shards, but with the level my retainer's at I can have her get 60 shards in 40 or 50 min, I forget which, and that's more than enough to keep me in stock since I don't craft constantly. My DoW retainer does the Quick Venure gamble, but I've also had him get snurble tufts and such when I saw the market was right for selling them. Some Quick Venture things are instant discards, but I got a Tonberry chandelier which I sold for several hundred thousand gil. It's not hard to make gil, and what's considered 'a lot' is a matter of perspective.

I have a small house and am satisfied with that, but I know plenty of players with med and large houses and not one of them is selfish or greedy, or buys gil. The way I see it, players who have a net worth of 50 mil gil + earned it doing things I chose not to do, that's not unfair at all it's a matter of choice.

What I don't think you take into account is that some people play the game for different reasons. Some want to be the best raider/geared character they can be, some want to have all crafts leveled to max and make millions. Some just like to gather. It's so easy to make money in this game with crafting and gathering that I'm sure there are people with huge sums of gil. While you're out grinding dungeons coming back and putting that coke you just got up for 3k gil, they're buying that 3k coke and making something with it, then selling the finished product for more than 3k profit. I stopped raiding in 2.4 and am concentrating on crafting/gathering, there is plenty of money to be made.

I've personally given away about 15 mil in sealants away to a friend of mine.

I think you are underestimating how easy it is for some people to make gil. I made my first 10 mil from SB and selling off anything not a Might IV or Aim IV. Hundreds of crafting/gathering materia at 20k, and the occasional IV at 100-200k. At one point, I was selling barding that took about 20k to make (after becoming a 3 star crafter) for about 160k a pop. Not to mention, the stuff that I didn't sell for crafting progression, which included 110 Fieldcraft 3s farmed in 3 weeks while they still sold for 180-200k a piece, 26 mastercraft demis, shards/finish mats, Aim IVs/Might IVs and materia needed for all my DoH/DoL. And all this stuff was gathered while playing casually as a full-time student. If I can raise around 30mil+ while playing in 1-2hours scattered throughout the day, someone with more time could easily go above and beyond that. And it's not just high value items, some people are dedicated enough to fill out each retainer slot daily with something that will sell over night for 5-20k. It really starts to add up in the long haul. You just have to know what to do and be able to get to it before everyone catches on.

I rarely craft for profit anymore and have made 25mil+ through other methods (mostly selling coil clears). I bought 10mil worth of materia before the 2.4 update.
