Idea: Busness Cards

I do a lot of DOH stuff for people - melds, crafting by request, etc. A lot of the time they add me as a friend so they can reach me when they want more things done.

So I got to thinking it'd be nice if we could have crafting business cards, maybe make them customisable etc.

You can give these to people who you do a service for - "Offer business card" option. They could look them up in their card portfolio or whatever. Maybe it lists your DOH class levels, what master books you have, includes shortcut for tell and shows if you're online. Maybe they can pass them on to friends (as a copy) - "go talk to this guy for X".

Lots of things could be done here that would quite useful for crafters. I wouldn't mind if it's limited to master crafters (either just level 50, or requires having, say, the first master book).

I like this idea. I would also like the ability for the FC members or friends (on friend list) to see which recipes you can craft (kind of like it was in WoW).

Well, if you pull up your friends list, you can click View Search info, and it will list their jobs. I suppose it's kind of a lot of work, and doesn't tell you what master recipe's they have access to. I'm not familiar with WoW's system, but I imagine XIV will be different with the fact that you can level every class to 50.

Fortunately, the people I would get to craft stuff for me, I got to know and they are on my friends list, and people like Jade Nephrite Who have every craft to 50, Every Supra Primary Tool, and every Foragers/Artisan Off hand fully melded, and all the recipe books, so I don't need to worry about what she has coz she has it all

Yeah you can use the friends list for that. But if you have a lot of friends and want to find that crafter it can be a pain though, and both crafter and client fill up their friends list that way. I would prefer to use my friends list for people I hang out with, run dungeons, hunts, chat etc.

Jade is a good example of how a business card might work. IIRC, she has an open offer for high-end crafting - fixed fee with mats, no fee if nq. The perfect example of the kind of thing you might want on a card

Many of my clients I end up friends with of course. But the cards are useful then if they want to pass on your details to their friends etc. Friends lists are just unwieldy for managing these sorts of things.
