Friend always raved about how Garuda's 1.0 fight was so hard.
It's just the same thing in slow motion...
While it does look nice the characters look unenthused. At least in 11 the animations were a little faster.

Not really, he just didn't know every race had unique animations back then and probably thought they all looked the same, funnily enough that's the case in ARR with every animation being condensed into a single set due to PS3 limitations and/or laziness/resource saving when creating new animations. He's right about Elezen males looking like they didn't care back in the day though, it fit their lore character.
Wow that's a shot of nostalgia. Seeing that PLD made me remember when darklight was super rare and said rare items were something to really look forward to once you got it. Now it's just turn and burn. All that gear I worked on in coil turn 2, lol it's useless now that turn 3 is out!
It look about the same but in slow motion and more gray
Wouldn't really call it PS3 limitations or laziness, more like time limitations. Not really, he just didn't know every race had unique animations back then and probably thought they all looked the same, funnily enough that's the case in ARR with every animation being condensed into a single set due to PS3 limitations and/or laziness/resource saving when creating new animations. That's the thing, though. The Elezen isn't making me think that he's covered in armor. He's making me think that he just doesn't care. Nothing weighted about it. Same with the other animations in the primal videos here. As for speaking from memory, I guess I'm just wondering what sparked your nostalgia. We're talking about the weight of the weapon skills. What does that have to do with a PC's situational awareness? As for that Elezen's Savage Blade? I don't expect anyone but a strength trainer (or M Highlander, M Roegadyn) would be able to push all of their body and armor weight forward on top of the weight of a metal sword and shield (in either hand) and swing them around in an arc like they were made out of plastic.
This thing with the fail FFXIV 1.0 needs to stop already. All I see from the video is an outdated old fashioned UI which looks horrible and a damn super slow motion combat. I'm glad they scrapped this garbage. It's time to put the horrors of the Calamity back where they belong. In past.
They had everything done already (they even redid the entire database of items and removed the visual belt display and shaved down the female models..it's not time limitations, it's simply not wanting to do it.)
That moment you realize a lot of the base systems and content systems existing in ARR originated in FFXIV 1.0 - 1.23 and were set to be implemented if they were able to fix core issues in time. This thing with the fail FFXIV 1.0 needs to stop already.
