Stuck walking/running in circles on PS3?

All the sudden while I was in the middle of a dungeon, I hit something that made it so it was like I was constantly holding down the left trigger so my character was just slowly walking all over the place. I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn it off. I tried turning off auto run, but nothing is working. I hit R and all it does is make her walk in tighter circles then she's already doing Even when I was outside the game, the character selection screen was spinning like I was holding the left trigger and on the log in screen the cursor was constantly going to the right of the screen. I've tried Google and haven't found any help on this issue. The game is basically impossible to play like this.

this usually means the potentiator in the controller is dead

did you try pressing the reset button on the back of the controller though?
