I'm far to long-winded for these forums. Here are all my thoughts on reddit. Not a very hateful post, in all actuality. The name is mostly a lie. I'm sorry.

So you think it's odd that Demolish due to the amount of hits x5 that it should be more devastating? I think I understand where your comming from, but the amount of Hits it aint your normal hits. it's more strikes to certain points of the body that deals the damage so to say.
what?
suck/10
In 1.0, MNK attacked twice in a round.
In 2.0, MNK attacks once.
Life's not fair.
It's the aesthetics of it all that bothers some people. I'd be a little offput if something like Flare ended up doing less damage than a fireball despite the overemphasis on the former's effects.
I mean you have something that deals a "3 hit combo" being one of your strongest hitters as a PLG, yet an attack that either involves smashing into the goddamn ground to create shockwaves or a "5 hit combo" which has you kicking hard enough to create visual shockwaves does equal or less than that.
It's a nitpick, but hey, I'm the sort of person that's extremely bothered by the concept of the relic lore.
Demolish does more damage than Bootshine if it gets in its full duration, but the amount of damage isn't the OP's complaint. He seems to want Demolish to do more of its damage up front because new players don't know how to calculate DoT damage. They might see what appears to be lackluster numbers and forgo using their best attack because at a glance everything else seems to do more damage.I mean you have something that deals a "3 hit combo" being one of your strongest hitters as a PLG, yet an attack that either involves smashing into the goddamn ground to create shockwaves or a "5 hit combo" which has you kicking hard enough to create visual shockwaves does equal or less than that.

Instead of asking for the ability to be changed, the OP should be asking for tooltip clarity in relation to DoTs; "Deals 270 potency over 18 seconds" is a lot more clear than what we have now (especially since nowhere in the game does it mention DoTs tick roughly every 3 seconds) and would alleviate a lot of potential new player confusion.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
The higher damage than bootshine comes from the overall DoT (internal bleeding as the game depicts), but the initial hit is weaker than bootshine (in which case, 3-hit punch versus a 5-hit combo). It's more over the aesthetics of the skill than the actual value/numbers.
We're monks, we fight with punches, flashy skills isn't exactly what we are known for most of the time...
And to be honest, I hate when they are too flashy, it's gets hard to see the target circles when fires and blizzards go out.
I already have all the effects of my party members turned off, I don't want to turn mine off as well.
