    Need/Greed Suggestions

I have been playing raids for 8-hours on end trying to get an item, Sands and Oils of Time, only to be SLAPPED in the face to receive nothing out of my runs; even worse, the players that I've went with sat out the last minute and never participated YET THEY RECEIVED TWO SANDS OF TIME AND OIL OF TIME!!!

There needs to be a major improvement with your Need/Greed system and I know the best way to improve it for the better and actually return investment to your players and give just rewards to participants.

First off, don't consider bystander players a high-offer as those who are active and participating. It is demoralizing, disgusting and un-encouraging that players who have spend their ENTIRE DAY on an instance or level receives NOTHING for their efforts; your better off slapping your players in the face and lifting up trolls because that's exactly as others and I feel over this issue. The more a player engages with activities in an instance the more their chances improve for the Need/Greed system; its not rocket science.

Two; do a quick inventory check with your back-end technologies to see if a certain player has the item in their inventory compared to others and its not like you can't do this; the same bloody thing happens when someone places a Need/Greed on an item they already have but can't obtain it; they would still be able to receive a perishable item but their chances are diminished compared to those who played or has none overall, a fair, balanced system that helps and engages players for their continuous support and participation.

Three; do a check to see if someone has been doing continuous run for a certain item and/or overall experience. I've been through these damn, accursed instances for over 8 hours straight, wasting my freakin' weekend foolishly having the high-hopes that I'll be rewarded, even slightly, for my continuous, uniformed effort. THANKS FOR DESTROYING ANY FAITH I'VE HAD IN THAT!! Its hard enough working with those who have no interest in participating in a fight, "needs" things they don't NEED (or deserve) and this isn't just me, but thousands of your players!!

While I disagree with majority of your suggestions, I have to add that you can bypass the text limit, by copy pasting the remaining words in the first post after you have created it.

Now to respond to your thread:

1: How will this work for healers? DPS have to do damage and tanks do damage even if they are not tanking. In some fights its best for healers to conserve their mana for the big damage waves, this means that inbetween those waves, they might just stand there for few seconds doing nothing. Maybe you could elaborate what you mean with active participation? Must the players be in the fight, is a certain amount of dps/heal etc expected of them? If the answer is yes, this means you will be forcing healers to neglect their duty as healers and squeeze that extra damage so they can have a chance on getting that loot. What about silly mechanics where the player gets frozen, stunned etc. if the healer does not debuff the other player, then they can not participate as active as the others. This is not fair, because they would have less chance to earn a loot, because their party member did not play at his or her best. I like your idea, but you need to give us more information about this method of yours.

2: Some items can be used twice by players, think of rings etc. Why should they be denied of the item, if they win? What about crafters who spend as much time as you to farm this item, so they can use it to make materia etc. The RNG in this game might suck for alot of players, but it does not discriminate, aslong as they have participated in the fight, they should have the same chances like you to earn it. Just because you have done a dungeon 30 times, does not mean the other player has not done 30 or more times.

3: This is selfish of you, just because you think you deserve a item, does not mean you should receive it. Your suggestion is basicly to have other players do the same content alot of times, so they have the clear to get the item. Its selfish and your basicly sending the message "I did the instance 20 times to earn Y item so if you want X item you need to do this instance 20 times aswell, otherwise you do not deserve it". I doubt any sane company would add this feature to their game.

What do you mean by 'participation'? If we are thinking about it from Laerune's explanation then I just want to add that healers keep you alive so you can actually GET the reward. You might also want to consider that some people might not be attacking because something in RL popped up, bathroom breaks, someone in FC chat asked a question, lag or being unfamiliar with the fight in general. People who are obviously standing afk and leeching just deserve a kick, if you see someone doing this inform the party, don't loot the chest and vote kick.

As for the rest RNG is RNG. I spend the best part of a week trying to get around 4 sands and an oil, it was a painful experience and I often rolled between 10-30 which is basically a no win situation unless RNG is just trolling everyone. You just got to keep going. Everyone is given fair chance at the loot and like Laerune said people might be farming for other classes and they should not be excluded from it because of that as they have also participated and 'earned their right' at the loot.

Too much to read.....but anyway, when the cap was lifted on ST I was like "yay I can gear my bard up in no time"

    ..................................................................................................................................................................................................... ( continue to infinty )

Just don't do it man. or if you have to do it, get 8 ppl you trust together, do 4 runs, and u get a sand and an oil each. I did roughly 30 st runs for 2 sand. I prefer St with the cap in all honesty. Seeing complete gimps walk away with 2 sands and 2 oils is such a terrible feeling xD

2nd coil spam is also an option for farming that stuff anyways.

I do agree that the RNG system needs massive improvement, I do not agree with all the points. I do know the pain of losing items constantly. I've been running the expert dungeons twice a day since launch of 2.4 I lose the Antique pieces with the same expect below 20 rolls. I even pass on everything else since I do not need them. I agree that chances could improve if you run the dungeon more. Nothing is more frustrating than running it 300 times (I have done this before) just to get an item you need. However, I do not agree with your chances diminishing with more in your inventory. That's just cruel to farmers for the item.
