Korean FFXIV was announced a couple of months ago. Hopefully they let us download and play on the Korean client on the current servers.

Wont happen, if I recall correctly the Korean version will launch with 2.3, it will be a standalone client like the Chinese version.

Because of the differing laws regarding online games in Korea, I doubt we'll see the ability to switch the client language to Korean, as they'll have their own version of the game.

I don't see why the main client cannot add the additional languages if they have gone through the trouble to create them in the first place.

Technically its possible yes...but China and Korea especially have laws regarding this (wanting to control stuff basically) so they'd have to license it to a company in Korea to make a version for that country using its own servers.

Let's just say there's a big reason why a lot of korean MMOs need to be shouldered by a completely different company/subsidiary to get released outside korea most of the time. And vice-versa.

I know someone who would at least like to see the Korean sigils added to the font so she can type it to her friends who also speak Korean. Right now she just gets those dreaded boxes whenever she tries, but Japanese with the English client works fine.

Yeah, IIRC the Chinese version is being hosted by Shanda and the Korean by Actoz Soft.
