Many have already stated the obvious, I will say that I wish I was just starting FFXIV now, the brainless leve failing only gave me a few 50's and little experience to work with. I didn't enjoy it very much at all. I didn't meet many ppl, I feel like I need to grind a job fresh from 1-50 when they adjust party play with exp chains and re-spawn rates so that I can meet some new players and help build up my linkshell.

I learned more about my jobs in the week following 1.18 then I did in the year prior.

No kidding with 1.18 I actually went in and read all my abilities and discovered abilities like spiritbind (1/2 mp cost for 30 seconds, can't move) which is essential for me to solo heal a group. Another cool ability I discovered was soughspeak (-enimity generation). Now that enimty and mp and concerns I feel like alot of the abilities have a purpose now where I ignored them previously.

i think this game needs people with 5+ R50 classes and end game gear cause it gives new players something to look forward to. i dont think it turns em away unless this game was a PvP game and the high lvl people ganks lower lvl players.

i remember jumping into ffxi when it was launched in NA and saw a JP in full god gear. it pushed me even harder and made me play more so i could obtain that gear and be like that player.

it might deter a few players but i think a lot of players want to know what they are striving for when playing a game. when they see players that have the best gear, the majority of them use that as motivation to catch up and obtain that gear themselves.

I think that the revamp of everything needs to have content for all level ranges. I would slow down 1-20, but also speed up the entire leveling curve. There's no point in adding tedium to games because it gets boring. Players want to experience content and be challenged by that content, not by a tedious experience gain.

There is no reason to raise the level cap until content is saturated at all level ranges.

    A few things

    1) How far ahead other people are wont deter new players, itl give them something to strive for.
Knowing it can be done is great incentive to some people.

    2) This isnt a competition, people dont vie up cuz someone has 10 more 50s then they do. The people who do think its a competition arent exactly the best players anyway and usualy dont play well with others.

    3) New players will always be coming in, and they can play with newer players and older players still able to do lower stuff. Regardless of how many vet players are with tons of 50s, there are many times over more players that have just 1 50, if even that. I have 11 myself, and I am a minority....Looking at players like me as what to expect is NOT the way to think about the ps3 launch

However, the past year has been one long content-less grindfest. It's considered normal to have multiple rank 50 jobs, especially after the time of failing-leves.

As such, content seems to be developed in order to match the general end-game population. If you want to be a good tank, having multiple jobs leveled up is necessary. Want to finish a raid fast? Completely normal for players to switch jobs inside the run.

The main point here is that FFXIV endgame so-far relies on multiple jobs being level 50.

Also, neuroscience experiments in the past few years tell us human brains generate greater satisfaction from relative gains than they do from absolute gains. In other words, people are happier when they have more than those around them. If you don't completely believe this go ask some FFXI vetrans about all the linkshells breaking up over dynamis-lord drops and all the byakko-haidate related drama. I'm sure every server experienced it.

The point I'm getting at here is that when the game is re-launched, it will be very difficult for new players to catch up, especially if there is a lot more content when they join. This will make it difficult for them to function well in end game (due to not having a years worth of grinding multiple jobs), and make it difficult for them to surpass many of the current players.

The fact that a huge population has botted their way to their high ranks, and that when the game is re-launched that probably won't be an option any more due to better enforcement, only compounds on the problem

So what do you think SE can do to fix this? Make the game like WoW where its really easy to get classes ranked up fast? Up the level cap and make 1-50 really easy? Post your thoughts
SE doesn't need to fix it. There will ALWAYS be players more powerful than you, either in levels or equipment. People that join a MMORPG planning to "catch up" or "surpass" the current playerbase learn the hard way that it's simply a pipe dream. in any game.

    There's no threat whatsoever.

And honestly just LOL @ "The fact that a huge population has botted their way to their high ranks".

Please, do share that good stuff you're smoking.

Doing a reset could also lead to all the people who have hung on here, full time or in part to say screw it and leave.
Risking the loss of the core base of players.

I can understand where you are coming from but SE can implement content post relaunch in a way that gives the older players fluff content to do, then a few months on add end game when the newer players are at/approaching that point.

The catch up argument can also be related to the hardCore Vs casual argument, in the same way.
One group progresses slower then the other, yet both play along side each other.
This would be no different. (look at the EvE vets of 2003/4 (me), we help or abuse newer players all the time and were an ass of a community 1/2 the time).

If anything it will if done right by SE (with content/fluff for all ranks or new classes/jobs and such to level) It could help the newer players having vets playing along side them.

You know one memory about xi that stand out to me is way back when i was just starting. I was out leveling up my highest job, mnk 6 and i saw a galka in full drk af ride by on a chocobo. I thought to my self holy shit i want to be like that guy someday.

Fun fact, in xiv buffs like stone skin and shock spikes seem to be based on the casters stats, not the targets. Next time you see a lowbie out killing stuff outside of town Drop a stone skin and shock spikes on them. They turn into invincible killing machines for a small period of time, And you become "That guy".

    .

you also lose a ton of potentials as they will see that if it can be reset once it can be reset again, you lose any sense of security that your character will always be there even as a new player

I know this is a bit off topic, however...

For people who really aren't a big fan of the OP's posts...why do you reply? Is it necesary? IMO it seems for once s/he isn't making any complaints but just trying to have what s/he feels is a practical coversation...

S/he isn't trying to have a p1$$1n6 contest...so really...do everyone a favor who is trying to read it...move a long and post something at another thread...

From someone who is neutral, every time I try and read the OP's posts it just gives me a headache seeing the mud slinging toward him/her. :/ I just for once want to read on of the threads and not have to hurry up and glaze over nonsense... :/ Please? Pretty please with english toffee sprinkles on top? kkthnxbai. :X mwah!
