I've done fine in endgame with only one job at 50. It's not having all jobs at 50 that counts, it's having the skills available from other jobs. Just like they'd tell you in XI, "Level your sub-job noob." I started XI 5 years after release, and the only thing having people with higher jobs gave me was a goal to reach.

Imagine all the people that quit after release and came back after this patch. Kickin' themselves in the a$$ because they cant participate in half if not more of the new content. Having started six months after release, what do I get for sticking it out and grinding, I get to do that content and have my chance at getting new things. What will newcomers get at re-release? The same chances I had, just further down the road.

As for the neuroscience thing, i chalk that up to a generation of "I want it all, I want it now, and as easy as possible."

Edit~ Oh ya, all the newcomers will have all the nice things that we never had in this long grindfest, chocos, aa, no phys level, sp balanced, party functions, maybe ls functions, quests, the list will go on and on til the release of PS3. Wrapped up in a nutshell, they will have a game to play.

I also don't think that everyone has multiple classes at 50. I would say that it is pretty spread from people having 1 class at 50 and all the classes at 50.
By the way, talking about neuroscience experiments means nothing unless it's backep up with references to such studies.

    Cheers

Is there any chance you can go back and edit the OP and remove where you have used 'Job' instead of 'Class'.

These kind of problems happen with any new players coming into the game period. They come in fresh and everyone else is miles ahead of them, that's just the nature of not playing at launch. At least once PS3 launch hits there will be a variety of ways to level and pretty quickly compared to launch.

You don't have to have multiple classes to 50 to participate in things like Darkhold, it certainly gives you a bit of an advantage since you did put more time into the game.

Also as others have said Jobs will kind of eliminate that. Jobs will be mostly standalone and once you have them you just have to do the quests and whatnot to bring them up to their full potential. Considering they're the ones meant for party play it'll become less of a problem.

However, the past year has been one long content-less grindfest. It's considered normal to have multiple rank 50 jobs, especially after the time of failing-leves.

As such, content seems to be developed in order to match the general end-game population. If you want to be a good tank, having multiple jobs leveled up is necessary. Want to finish a raid fast? Completely normal for players to switch jobs inside the run.

The main point here is that FFXIV endgame so-far relies on multiple jobs being level 50.

Also, neuroscience experiments in the past few years tell us human brains generate greater satisfaction from relative gains than they do from absolute gains. In other words, people are happier when they have more than those around them. If you don't completely believe this go ask some FFXI vetrans about all the linkshells breaking up over dynamis-lord drops and all the byakko-haidate related drama. I'm sure every server experienced it.

The point I'm getting at here is that when the game is re-launched, it will be very difficult for new players to catch up, especially if there is a lot more content when they join. This will make it difficult for them to function well in end game (due to not having a years worth of grinding multiple jobs), and make it difficult for them to surpass many of the current players.

The fact that a huge population has botted their way to their high ranks, and that when the game is re-launched that probably won't be an option any more due to better enforcement, only compounds on the problem

So what do you think SE can do to fix this? Make the game like WoW where its really easy to get classes ranked up fast? Up the level cap and make 1-50 really easy? Post your thoughts
You lost your credibility with me as soon as I got to this.

    NEUROSCIENCE:

Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system.[1] Traditionally, neuroscience has been seen as a branch of biology. However, it is currently an interdisciplinary science that collaborates with other fields such as chemistry, computer science, engineering, linguistics, mathematics, medicine and allied disciplines, philosophy, physics, and psychology. The term neurobiology is usually used interchangeably with the term neuroscience, although the former refers specifically to the biology of the nervous system, whereas the latter refers to the entire science of the nervous system.

The scope of neuroscience has broadened to include different approaches used to study the molecular, cellular, developmental, structural, functional, evolutionary, computational, and medical aspects of the nervous system. The techniques used by neuroscientists have also expanded enormously, from molecular and cellular studies of individual nerve cells to imaging of sensory and motor tasks in the brain. Recent theoretical advances in neuroscience have also been aided by the study of neural networks.

    PSYCHOLOGY:

Psychology is the science[1] of behavior and mental processes.[2] Its immediate goal is to understand individuals and groups by both establishing general principles and researching specific cases.

    DICTIONARY:

A dictionary, also called a lexicon, wordbook, or vocabulary, is a collection of words in one or more specific languages, often listed alphabetically, with usage information, definitions, etymologies, phonetics, pronunciations, and other information;[1] or a book of words in one language with their equivalents in another, also known as a lexicon.

    CITATION:

Broadly, a citation is a reference to a published or unpublished source (not always the original source).

How is a 'relaunch' any more different than say.. a new player joining an MMO 4-5 years in its life. It'll be too hard for them to catch up also!

It's no secret FFXIV has been released. They're not going to hide that fact, as much as they'd love to. The relaunch is nothing more than a marketing effort to reach out to players and pull them in. The advantage XIV has over other MMO relaunches, is they have a brand new platform to sell to which has a wider more casual audience, and this gives them a chance to have the game reviewed once more.

Idk... there are STILL people starting brand new. It's like any other MMO, you start late then yes you have to catch up.

I like the game the way it is now with sp values and stuff. It's not hard to find a grind party and not /that/ hard to rank up. People are being lazy and not looking which is the problem.

I started back with 1.18 and pretty much all I have is a 30ish Conjurer and a few crafts at 15. I can tell you it is intimidating starting behind and looking at characters that have 2-5 R50s. But I didn't stick with the game since launch. Surely people have enough common sense to not expect to be on par with someone who has played for what almost a year now (September is a year right?)
