Am I totally just making this up?

I have a vivid memory that around the time of XIV's announcement they talked about the airship battles in XIV and how they would be more complex than the fights happening on XI ships.

I remember being very excited for this feature since I really enjoyed XI's sea battles and always hoped for something more complex.


If they're still working on this please consider more environment interaction than in other fights please.

I think it's very impressive how Monster Hunter 3Tri manages to create sea-battles with controls designed only for close range combat.

Can you imagine what a fight with one of those massive dragons you see in the opening would be like on an airship?



I'm not saying they should copy MH3Tri but like in that boss fight jumping off the ship on the back of a massive air-dragon to do damage on specific body parts would be pretty sweet.

If it was an idea of the previous dev team or never on the table I'd really like them to consider future content like that for the incoming airships.

Having another ship where you spend time watching minimal scenery while doing nothing like on the ferry is not that crucial to add to the game since we're already warping all over the place within seconds.

Almost all of the FF titles have on-deck airship fights. It's 2011 isn't it time to aim a little higher than that?
