    Surecast is a subset of swiftcast, it would still be so if it made you immune to movement interruption, just a little less weak.
    Why have it? Because swiftcast isn't always up, I guess.
    It's not meant to always be up because BLM is turret DPS and you're not meant to be mobile, it would remove all the difficulty in playing the job if it gave you any more chances to move than it already does with SC and procs.

    I am against killing the fun in playing BLM for people who don't learn how to manage movement.

    Can anyone here against this idea post one reason why *any* BLM would use Surecast, outside of PvP.

    I'm definitely for this idea for FL. Melee have enough stuns/gap closers for the balance to already be there. They even have Purify to break sleeps/roots, which if you're a summoner and they Purify the root you're basically SOL anyway. So to me this seems more than welcomed, even if they had to include the half damage like Swiftcast.

    They removed mobile casting for PvP purposes (yes this is the exact reason.) So..it's not happening outside of swiftcast.

    To be totally honest, I have difficulty envisioning this being useful. I'm that kind of blackmage that kind of likes to well, stand in things. I fireweave my manaward and manawall to absorb attacks partially or fully if needed. Otherwise, I manage to clip the cast by running at the last second because I have enough spellspeed to do so. The times I use surecast are when I'm hardcasting a flare and well, thats about it. Sometimes I just use it to fireweave with no intention of being interrupted at all. I don't forsee myself hardcasting flare in immediate danger or on any coil run (scob and up) so I dont think moving while casting flare would help me at all either. Swiftcast + flare is situational for mechanics on tough bosses or at the end of my rotation to help extend high damage. And again this is really just speaking about tougher boss fights... hardcasting a flare usually nets a loss in dps on single targets and again, its really the only time I find surecast useful at all.

    Er, adding it to Surecast wouldn't mean it is "always up". Surecast has a 30s recast time. So once every 30s you would be able to move while casting. It would give Surecast a reason to exist, right now its basically worthless.

    (Would make it a useful cross-class for SMN as well)

    And if they dont do something like this, maybe they should just make it a PvP only skill and give BLM something useful instead. Its completely worthless in PvE (I don't actually know if its good in PvP since I dont ever do that, but some people seem to think so).

    I'm all for surecast to allow casting while moving. I mean it is only valid for a single cast anyway. I don't think it would break the job balance. A slight CD increase could be used to outbalance this issue. I can see it be useful in some cases - like DBs, fireballs, twisters in t5 - and frankly I don't see that as a major breakage.
