There is currently no point in getting the new gear. It doesn't give you access to any nodes we can't already get. Can we have some incentive to get it? Maybe move the sol mats (like wootz ore) to new nodes that require the gear to reach? Or maybe even old mats that use gc seals or oaknots

It can be shared between classes so if you haven't melded both classes there is a reason to get it right there.

However I would love it if they moved the old philo/myth mats to unspoiled nodes.

You need Forager gear to catch several new fishes introduced in latest patch.

Pre-2.4 gathering cap for fisher was 393 with the best food and FC buff. These fishes require 399 and in one case - 403 gathering, which makes Forager gear a must have.

I would get them but the pricing is insane. Through the introduction of some new cheap NPC sold gear the prices for Demi 3 dropped to 50-60k. Masterfield, however has risen up to 1 million gil. You need at least 1 master demi for each forager piece and lots of other extremely expensive materials. For supras you need 3 master demies + 10 field 3, which makes a tool you don't really need cost almost 4m. Add to that the costs for forager gear and secondary tool and you will be somewhere around 10 million. This will never pay off. They NEED to add new ways to get master demies in the new patch.

Just get the off hand tool, forget about the rest. Best bang for your buck, hq'd the Foragers sledge today and got a great boost....and it didn't cost me a dime Oh and also got the supra, which didn't cost me anything either.

technically they cost you whatever the going price was at the time you crafted them as that's what you potentially could of sold them for........p

That's called "opportunity cost" in the business world and is a sound statement. Anything you do has an associated opportunity cost, so posting on this board means you turned down the opportunity to get fire shards and if you use them, you turned down the opportunity to sell them, but if you sell them, you turn down the opportunity to make something more valuable. What if you could have run Syrcus Tower and received the Throne Gem? Well then, the decision to do something else just cost you a million gil (give or take).

If it costs you 100 for the materials for something and the end product would only sell for 95 then making the item costs you 5 even if you farm everything yourself (add in your time if you do that as well)

Ignoring Opportunity cost is as silly as ignoring the price of shards/crystals/clusters when figuring out what to sell crafted items for.

Oh for pity sakes, I made the damn thing for my benefit, for my own using, to be able to make hq items for people and friends. Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not like most people in the game....I'm not greedy. I don't really care what that crap says, you can't compare it to this, its a damn game lol
