    Catching up

Has the game gotten kinder yet to people who need to catch up?

I remember playing less around patch 2.2 because I had done pretty much all "free" content and the only remaining ones were blocked by gear checks that would require grinding better gear.

I took a quick return around 2.3 to do more interesting side quests, but those also went into more large group battle fields, and I didn't want to join those and feel terrible about my bad gear (even if I would meet minimum requirements).

Now I see 2.4 is out, and yet again I'd love to do some of the story, but am still afraid I'll just end up logging in to the same game I left, where I need to grind old gear at terrible drop rates to even catch up to the new content requirements.

So, would there for example be really cheap auction house gear for higher levels that I could buy with my low amounts of money? Or is the economy broken and you need millions for this gear shortcut? Or does the game still not have any purchaseable items of high gear score?

Alternatively, are drops much more common and available from old content? (Assuming I'd get anyone to do it to begin with, without instantly leaving because it is my first time doing something that has been out for 6 months).

Saw we had some cash shop items now as well. Sadly nothing there with high gear score to let me buy myself back into content and enjoyment. Naturally buying gear wouldn't mean I bought the experience to face roll content, so I'd still have to get back into the game. But I suspect learning some patterns would go slightly faster than grinding full armor sets.

PS. I stopped the game around Garuda Hard / Gilgamesh fight. Never tried either due to usually not having a couple hours free at that period.

The game was ALWAYS kind to people who want to catch up. You could start today and have full i100 gear by the end of the week.

That don't mean your going to be in FCOB in the next few weeks, but you'd be caught up to most the population. Even so, your only 1 week behind people earning Poetics.

You've got to be kidding me. The game literally bends over backwards trying to get new players 'up to speed' by giving tomes everywhere and you still think it's too slow? And then you suggest you want to spend irl money to get gear to 'catch up'? There's no one even to catch up to, from the looks of your post. You might as well just RMT and buy all the i110 crafted gear, but even then I'd rather do content with someone who did various dungeons over and over and barely managed to scratch i90 over you.

    Why even bother with mmos?

Wow ok iirc op left about the time when the best way to get tomes was by spamming wp over and over. But to answer your question op yes it is easier to get caught up in gear. Alot of peeps with gear under ilvl 100 just spam ST for the ilvl 100 gear. And the sold tomes are easier to get.

A valid point until you actually read OP's post.
Mainly the part he says he is unwilling to grind a dungeon.
He is asking if there is a vendor that will sell him max gear for 100 Gil a set.

Oh ya was trying to give the benefit of the doubt but in a way i did answer his question didn't see where it says 100 gil per set :P I hate the grind as well but is a poison everyone must drink. Tomes, tomes and more tomes. Although i think it is quicker then the WP spam used to be. But ya other then dungeon grind guess he could do hunts.

There is fun in it, just have to take the time, research, etc. etc. I am expecting more challenges in the long run to arise.
